Overview

Hook Rapids is a rapid formed where the river bends in the Hernand region. The rapids were once sharp and narrow, shaped much like a hook. A massive landslide caused ground erosion that reshaped the riverbed, and this geological process continues gradually each year.

Location

The rapids are located along one of Hernand's rivers where a sharp bend creates turbulent water conditions. The ongoing erosion means the terrain around Hook Rapids changes slowly over time.
