Major correction: tiered donation chain with five tracks, not a single scripted mission
For a Better Tomorrow is a long-running Greymane faction quest chain in Crimson Desert, part of the larger Grounds of the Sunrise storyline. Rather than a single scripted mission, it is a tiered resource donation questline that lets Kliff contribute directly to rebuilding and sustaining the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill in the Hernand region. The quest is managed by Karl, the camp's supply officer, who accepts silver, food, timber, stone and ore, and equipment in exchange for camp progression and Greymane contribution level.
Earlier wiki copy listed the reward as None, which is misleading. There is no cinematic reward chest, but every donation tier raises the player's Greymane contribution level, which is the metric that unlocks camp upgrades and further Grounds of the Sunrise content.
Field | Value |
|---|---|
Quest Type | Faction Quest (donation chain) |
Faction | |
Quest Chain | Grounds of the Sunrise |
Region | |
Location | Howling Hill / Greymane Camp |
Quest Giver | Karl (camp supply officer) |
Difficulty | Easy (time-gated, not combat-gated) |
Estimated Time | 45 to 60+ minutes cumulative, can be done over many sessions |
Prerequisite | Camp expansion completed at the end of Chapter 3 of the main story |
Reward | Greymane contribution level increase (no unique item drop) |
Progress the main story until the Greymane Camp has been expanded at the end of Chapter 3. Karl's donation menu is not active before that point.
Travel to Howling Hill in Hernand and find Karl at his tent inside the Greymane Camp.
Interact with Karl and pick Manage Inventory from the dialogue menu.
Select Replenish Camp Resources to open the five donation tracks. Picking any track formally opens the For a Better Tomorrow entry in your Faction Quests log.
For a Better Tomorrow is split into five parallel donation tracks. Each track has its own tiered thresholds; crossing a threshold counts as a sub-quest completion.
Track | What to Donate | Tier Thresholds |
|---|---|---|
A Stuffed Safe | Silver, copper coins, sellable accessories | 50, 200, 500, 2000, 10000 silver |
Reliable Support | Timber (chop trees; higher rarity wood counts more) | 250, 1000, 2500, 10000 points |
Strong Foundation | Stone and ore (mined with a pickaxe) | Starts at 250, 1000, then higher tiers |
Abundant Table | Prepared meals, raw meat, vegetables, fruits, alchemy ingredients | Starts at 500 points; long-term goal is much higher |
Reliable Equipment | Weapons, armor, tools, crafting gear | Multiple tiered thresholds |
Empty your bags at Karl first. Unwanted accessories and low-grade gear convert directly into contribution.
For Reliable Support and Strong Foundation, use the logging camps and mining nodes scattered around Hernand. Higher-rarity nodes return more weight per trip.
For Abundant Table, hunt wildlife and cook at any campfire before turning the food in. Cooked dishes are worth more than raw ingredients.
Return to Karl between expeditions. Each deposit is auto-recorded against the nearest uncompleted tier.
Only personal donations count. Sending comrades on dispatch missions from the Greymane Camp board does not contribute toward For a Better Tomorrow tiers.
Grounds of the Sunrise is the central Greymane faction arc, covering finding scattered Greymane survivors across Pywel, bringing them back to Howling Hill, and expanding the camp into a self-sustaining base. While most Grounds of the Sunrise quests focus on recruiting specific named survivors (the cook, the quartermaster, the engineer, the trader, and so on), For a Better Tomorrow is the logistical backbone that keeps those survivors fed, armed, and sheltered once they arrive. Narratively, Karl frames it as Kliff personally bankrolling the camp's future.
Treat this as a background quest. Turn in materials whenever you pass through Howling Hill instead of making dedicated farming trips.
Convert gold bars at a bank before donating. Karl only accepts silver and copper as currency.
Sell junk accessories directly to Karl rather than vendors. The silver lands straight into the A Stuffed Safe track.
Cooking is the fastest way to clear Abundant Table tiers because cooked dishes outweigh raw ingredients.
Prioritize high-rarity wood and ore nodes. One rare log can beat several common hauls.
Do not rely on dispatches or hireling missions to complete this chain. Only Kliff's hand-delivered items count.
Because the chain has no deadline, it is safe to ignore during combat-heavy story beats and return during downtime.
