The Feathered Weasel is a tameable small-animal pet introduced in Patch 1.08.00, the update that added twenty species of small animals that can be raised at the camp. It is one of the more distinctive creatures in the group: its name comes from a unique feather-like coating across its body, which sets it apart from a common weasel and gives it an unusual, almost bird-like silhouette. Large ears and sharp claws round out its appearance.
Like the other small pets, the Feathered Weasel is too big to ride and does not sit on the shoulder. After it is tamed, it is carried in your arms rather than perched, and it can be kept at camp alongside your other adopted animals.
Wild Feathered Weasels live inside a cave whose entrance sits beside a small camp and reads on the map as a narrow, hill-shaped opening. Head inside and run down to the lowest chamber, where a small group of the weasels (usually about three) dart around the floor.
The weasels are fast and skittish, so close the distance and grab one with the interact button before it scatters. Picking it up lifts the animal into your hands and opens its trust meter. From there, feed it to raise Trust until the meter fills, then choose the Take In prompt to adopt it as a permanent pet.
The reliable food for taming is Bird Meat. Each piece raises Trust by 50, so two pieces take a wild weasel from zero to the 100 Trust needed to take it in. Bird Meat can be bought from a town butcher, or obtained by hunting and skinning birds in the wild. Stock up before the trip so you can adopt a weasel in a single visit.
If trust does not fill in one sitting, the meter is saved per animal, so you can return to the same weasel later and keep feeding it until it is ready to take in.
The table below lists the foods that build a Feathered Weasel's Trust and how much each one adds per feeding. Two pieces of Bird Meat are enough to reach the 100 Trust threshold for adoption.
