New article: hub for the bounty hunting system, links 25+ bounty notices
Bounty Hunting is a repeatable activity in Crimson Desert where Kliff tracks, captures, or kills outlaws listed on wanted posters scattered around settlements in Pywel. It unlocks in Chapter 2 after the story brings Kliff to Hernand, and quickly becomes one of the most reliable silver income sources in the early and mid game.
Bounty Hunting is distinct from the Wanted System (which tracks Kliff's own crimes and puts bounties on him), the Freesword Dispatch System (off-screen companion missions for crafting materials at Greymane Camp), and Greymane Commissions (delivery requests from camp residents). Bounty Hunting is the activity where Kliff is the hunter, not the hunted.
Wanted posters can be picked up from boards near the Guard Captain in major settlements. The first set is in Hernand. The turn-in point is the Hernand Guard Station outside the western city wall. Every major settlement in Pywel has a bounty board near the local guard captain once unlocked.
Grab a wanted poster from a board to add the target to the Journal under Bounty Notices.
The target's last known location is marked on the map.
Travel to the marked area and identify the target using the description on the notice (name, race, age, gender, crimes, distinguishing features).
The target panics and flees on sight. Sprint and perform a tackle takedown.
Once grounded, punch exactly three times. This forces a confession, which drops a document into the inventory as evidence.
Rope the target, call your horse, and stow them across the saddle.
Haul the captive to the jailer at the guard station. Stick to main roads; bandits and aggressive wildlife can knock the target free.
Hand the captive over to collect silver. Killing the target only pays half the alive bounty.
Each bounty pays out silver depending on the target's notoriety. The tutorial bounty pays 1 silver, while top-end Hernand bounties pay around 30 silver. Higher-tier bounties in later regions scale upward. Killing the target instead of capturing alive halves the payout in every case documented. Secondary rewards include the Bounty Hunter's Leather Armor and Bounty Hunter's Plate Armor sets, which drop from related content.
Confirmed bounty targets in Hernand include Warren, Bianca, Billy, Blix, Alessio, Sigrun, Torfinn, Blair, Helia, Kronk, Nabila, Salvatore, Sigor, Talgrim, Throk, Ursula, and Tarik. Monster bounties (kill-only, no capture) include the Bloodied Monster and the Mud Monster. Each target has its own bounty notice page with specific crimes, locations, and payouts.
Always capture alive for double silver unless the fight is too dangerous.
Carry a mount into the target area; tackled targets must be transported immediately.
Scout guarded outlaw camps from a distance before engaging. Many named targets are surrounded by allies.
Do not equip a criminal mask while carrying a captive, since it switches Kliff's own wanted state.
Bounty boards refresh as the story progresses through new regions.
Stick to main roads when transporting captives. Bandits and wolves can knock the target loose.
Bundle bounties with travel routes so each pickup line happens organically.
