Revision - twin axes - Chrono Odyssey Wiki

The Twin Axes are one of the three weapons available to the Berserker in Chrono Odyssey. They are the fast, single-target option: quick combos, a deep bench of survivability passives, and the weapon most closely tied to the Berserker's Frenzied state. A Berserker equips two of the class's three weapons at a time, so taking Twin Axes means leaving either the Chain Blades or the Battle Axe behind.

Twin Axes were playable during the first Closed Beta Test from June 20-22, 2025. Everything labelled June 2025 on this page was recorded in that build and comes from a single community record of it. Chrono Studio has since stated that all classes will be re-evaluated for combat balance alongside the Matrix System, so the names, percentages and resource costs below are a point-in-time snapshot rather than launch behaviour.

Role and Playstyle

Twin Axes lean single-target rather than area, and their identity comes from the passive bench rather than the four active skills. Movement speed bonuses, health recovery on hit, attack and critical bonuses that switch on as health drops, and a skill that flatly prevents death for ten seconds all sit on the same weapon. That makes them a strong solo pick and an equally strong off-hand for a player whose main weapon is fragile.

The pattern the passives describe is deliberate: the Twin Axes get better the closer the Berserker is to dying. Attack rises below 50% health, critical rate rises below 30%, and health recovery on hit switches on below 40%. Playing them safely wastes half the weapon.

The Frenzied State

The Berserker has a state that raises damage and movement speed while continuously draining health. Our articles call it the Frenzied state; the recorded skill tables call the same state Berserk. They are one mechanic under two names, not two systems.

Three Twin Axes passives exist only to feed it. Chain Rage generates Rage throughout, Relentless Hunter turns basic attacks into gap-closing dashes, and Reciprocation raises the health drain to 2% in exchange for a larger damage and movement bonus. The weapon's biggest single hit, Relentless Swing, also scales up while the state is running.

Recorded Skills (June 2025)

Each skill is a base active followed by two enhancement tiers, numbered I, II and III. Each entry carries the rank notation used in the recorded build sheet, such as 3/3 or 1/3. The sheet does not explain the notation; it reads as points invested against a skill's maximum ranks.

Skill	Ranks	Type	Recorded effect
Empower Axe I	3/3	Active	Raises damage by 30% and Movement Speed by 25% for 10 seconds.
Empower Axe II	1/1	Enhancement	Recovers 1% health per second across the 10-second duration.
Empower Axe III	1/1	Enhancement	Killing an enemy while it is active resets its cooldown.
Immortal I	3/3	Active	Grants Immortal for 10 seconds, preventing health from falling below 1 and generating 2 Rage per second. Grants Super Armor while active.
Immortal II	1/1	Enhancement	Landing the final strike of a basic attack cuts the cooldown of Immortal by 3 seconds.
Immortal III	1/1	Enhancement	Recovers 20% health when Immortal expires.
Clobber I	3/3	Active	A heavy swing dealing 81.2% damage with Knockdown and Bleed.
Clobber II	1/1	Enhancement	Recovers 20% health on a landed hit.
Clobber III	1/1	Enhancement	Raises the damage of Clobber to 145.3%.
Relentless Swing I	3/3	Active	Three attacks for a total of 357.1% damage with Knockback, rising to a total of 446.5% while the Frenzied state is active.
Relentless Swing II	1/1	Enhancement	Every 3 attacks landed on a Bleeding target raise skill damage by 20% for 8 seconds, and the final strike stuns for 3 seconds.
Relentless Swing III	1/1	Enhancement	Ignores enemy Defense on a landed hit.

Passives

Passive	Ranks	Recorded effect
Unrelenting Spirit	3/3	Raises Attack by 20% while health is below 50%.
Overflowing Force	3/3	Raises Movement Speed by 25% while Stamina is full.
Blood Rapture	1/3	Applies Bleed on a critical hit.
Colossus	1/3	Drawing the Twin Axes generates 40 Rage and recovers 30 Stamina.
Relentless Hunter	1/1	While the Frenzied state is active, basic attacks trigger a dash toward enemies that are out of range.
Chain Rage	1/1	Generates 2 Rage per second while the Frenzied state is active.
Reciprocation	1/1	Raises the Frenzied state's health consumption to 2% while raising its damage bonus to 30% and its Movement Speed bonus to 30%.
Sanguine Blessing	3/3	Raises Critical Rate by 20% while health is below 30%.
Enduring Spirit	3/3	Recovers 5% health on a landed attack while health is below 40%.

Weapon Swapping

Drawing a weapon fires a passive tied to that weapon. For the Twin Axes that passive is Colossus: switching to them generates 40 Rage and recovers 30 Stamina. That is the single best argument for carrying them as an off-hand, because a Berserker who is out of Rage can refill a chunk of it simply by drawing the axes. See Dual Weapon Switching for the full cross-class list of draw passives.

In the June 2025 build the swap itself carried no cooldown of its own, though in practice it often resolved only once an in-progress skill animation had finished. A short cooldown to prevent an accidental double swap is a stated change for the reworked build, and as of 2026-09-11 no key binding for the swap has been published.

Mastery and the Matrix

Twin Axes carry their own Weapon Mastery track, raised by using the weapon and independent of character level. The Matrix System announced after the closed beta adds four progression paths per weapon on top of that, twelve across the Berserker's three weapons. The Matrix was not present in the June 2025 build.
