Initial version (2026-10-16)
Chrono Odyssey is an action MMORPG in development at Chrono Studio for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a target window of Q2 2027. The only hardware specifications published so far are for PC. They first appeared alongside the June 2025 Closed Beta Test, and as of October 2026 the store listing still shows the same figures.
Treat them as the closed beta baseline rather than final launch requirements. In September 2026 the developers announced an outside hardware testing program whose benchmark data is meant to produce more detailed official minimum and recommended specifications before release.
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Operating System | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 10 (64-bit) |
Processor | Intel Core i5-3570K / AMD FX-8310 | Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
Memory | 16 GB RAM | 32 GB RAM |
Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6600 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT |
DirectX | Version 11 | Version 12 |
Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
Both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system. The listing does not name an SSD requirement, a Windows 11 entry, or a target resolution or frame rate for either tier, and the figures have not changed since they were first posted for the closed beta in June 2025.
No resolution modes, frame rate targets or storage figures have been published for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S as of October 2026. Neither console version has been shown in a public test: the June 2025 closed beta ran on PC only.
Item | Detail |
|---|---|
Interface and subtitle languages | English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Korean and Traditional Chinese |
Full audio | English and Korean only |
PC storefronts | Steam and the Epic Games Store |
Release date shown | To be announced (October 2026) |
Performance and stability were among the most common complaints from the June 2025 test. Looking back in September 2026, the developers summed up the problem as frame drops and crashes, including cases where the game struggled to run smoothly even on higher-end PCs.
The studio had warned at the start of the test that players might run into FPS drops and network instability, and its closing message said performance and system stability issues were under in-depth review. See Closed Beta Test for the wider reception.
Date | Update | What Was Announced |
|---|---|---|
July 2025 | Developer's Notes #2, Part I | Rendering restructured to cut GPU load (high-detail Nanite geometry only where needed, instanced meshes for repeated assets, fewer draw calls); collision data split from rendering data and loaded by proximity to save memory; a dynamic loading system that scales streamed area and asset quality to the player's hardware; retuned Temporal Super Resolution, plus DLSS and FSR upscaling on compatible graphics cards |
December 2025 | Developer's Notes #3 | Shader calls per frame cut by about 40 percent and average memory use by about 20 percent; world streaming refined to reduce GPU usage swings during long sessions |
May 2026 | Developer's Notes #5 | A multi-channel server architecture to manage player density, aimed at keeping crowded regions and large world events running smoothly |
September 2026 | Developer's Notes #6 | An update given over entirely to PC optimization, announcing the outside hardware testing program described below |
The streaming and loading side of this work is covered in more detail on the Open World page.
On September 22, 2026, the day Developer's Notes #6 went up, publisher Kakao Games announced a memorandum of understanding with a South Korean IT and hardware media community to test the game across a broad range of PC configurations. The stated plan:
The in-game graphics options are to be divided into finer settings.
The partner runs the game through its own hardware test program on many systems, checking compatibility and measuring frame rate stability, rendering performance and other factors that affect how the game runs.
The resulting benchmark data is to be used to set out the official minimum and recommended specifications in more detail.
Beyond a two-tier spec sheet, the plan is to publish performance reference points for specific combinations of resolution, graphics options and target frame rate, so players can judge which settings suit their hardware.
Testing covers mainstream PCs and handheld gaming PCs, not only high-end systems.
Developer's Notes #6 adds that work is also continuing on character movement and animation, input responsiveness, controls and UI/UX. As of October 2026 no revised specification sheet, benchmark table or handheld result has been published.
