Character Creator

Initial comprehensive character creator article
Chrono Odyssey features what the developers describe as the most refined character creator in a modern MMO, surpassing even Black Desert Online's renowned customization system. None of the six classes are gender-locked — all classes are available to both body types. Players choose from two body types and then customize extensively using sliders, morph graphs, and preset systems.
The face alone offers extraordinary granularity:
Cheekbones — Two independent lateral sliders for precise bone structure shaping
Nose — Three sliders determining nostril shape, bridge width, and tip position
Mouth — Dedicated nasolabial angle meter controlling the relationship between nose and upper lip
Additional sliders for eyes, brows, jaw, chin, ears, and forehead
Body Types — Two selectable body types (labeled as "Body Type" rather than gender)
Tone Definition — Muscle definition and body fat distribution
Bone Structure — Presets for skeletal framework
Hair — Wide array of hairstyles
Skin — Comprehensive skin tone coloration
Cosmetics — Makeup, scars, and tattoos
Expanded presets serve as starting points for players who prefer not to spend hours tweaking individual sliders. Presets cover different archetypes and can be further customized after selection.
During the June 2025 Closed Beta Test, many players used the creator's extensive freedom to build intentionally exaggerated or grotesque characters — neon colors, impossibly thick necks, and deliberately awkward body compositions. The development team, including CEO Bong-Gun Bae, was reportedly "shocked" by these creations.
Following the CBT, the studio confirmed that future builds will impose meaningful limitations on how far sliders can morph the baseline character models. The reasoning: while extreme customization freedom works in single-player RPGs (like Oblivion or Dark Souls), a shared MMO world requires a baseline of visual coherence. The near-boundless slider freedom from CBT1 will be curbed to prevent what the community dubbed "Oblivion-esque" character abominations.
The core customization depth — facial feature granularity, body types, hair, cosmetics, and presets — will remain intact. Only the extreme outer bounds of slider ranges will be restricted.
