Combat and Battles

Added battle roles (DPS, Break, Support, Heal, Energy) and elemental strengths
Battles in Aniimo are fought in real time, drawing on the Aniimo a Pathfinder has collected and the Twining ability that lets a player fight as a creature directly. Combat sits alongside catching and exploration as one of the game's core pillars.

Rather than turn-based exchanges, Aniimo uses real-time action combat, where timing and movement matter as much as the creatures involved. The game describes its challenges as immediate and instantaneous, whether a player is adventuring alone or fighting alongside others. Demos have shown dodges, blocks, and chained attacks with real-time inputs, letting players combine their own attacks with commands for their Aniimo's abilities to build combos.
Aniimo grow more capable as they evolve and as their skills are upgraded using materials, so preparing a team is part of succeeding in battle. Powerful encounters include cooperative boss fights, which players can take on together. Cooperative boss fights include foes such as Cubbo, Bubbask, and Coraliz.
Every Aniimo fills one of five battle roles that shape a team: DPS for damage, Break for breaking an enemy's guard, Support for buffs and control, Heal for sustain, and Energy for feeding the team's skills. Creatures also carry one or two elemental affinities, and elements have strengths and weaknesses against one another, so building a balanced roster of roles and elements is central to winning fights.
Combat appears throughout the world, from wild encounters during exploration to structured modes. The competitive side of fighting other players is covered in Egg Heist and PvP. Detailed battle systems, skills, and damage figures have not been fully revealed.
