Added the planned depth-scaled payout multipliers and why the rework is deferred
11Sleep Tokens are the currency that survives a dive into Somu’s Dream. Every Dream Shard Juno still holds when she wakes converts into tokens, bonuses and penalties from the dive are applied, and the result is banked permanently. In-game menus label them simply as Tokens.2233Tokens are what turns a failed run into progress. A dive that ends badly still pays out, just less, so the roguelite loop rewards attempting deeper Layers even when they are not survivable yet.4455Payout6677On top of the straight shard conversion, the following bonuses and penalties apply. These values are community-documented for the current build and the studio has said the bonus system is being reworked, so treat them as current rather than final.8899EventTokensLayer cleared+250Layer cleared flawlessly, without taking damage+1,000Boss defeated+250Boss defeated flawlessly, without taking damage+250Enemy defeated+5Damage taken-1 per point of damageExiting the Dream through the menu-1001010After all of that, the total is halved if Juno leaves the Dream by any route other than the elevator at the back of a Boss Room. Between the flat exit penalty and the multiplier, quitting out mid-Layer is the most expensive way to end a dive.11111212Spending Tokens13131414Tokens have two sinks. The first is Perks, bought from Somu’s menu between dives. Perks are the mode’s permanent progression: Room Perks add new room types to the Dream or improve ones already in rotation, and Utility Perks change starting resources, rarity ceilings and the reroll and banish systems. Perks can be toggled on and off individually, so an unwanted room type can simply be switched back off without refunding it.15151616The second sink is the Token Exchange, which Somu opens after the first completed dive. It trades tokens for items usable in the main game, at fixed stock.17171818ItemCostStockUtility Belt I100,0001Verse of the Gods10,00010Whisper of the Gods5,000101919Utility Belt I is the standout: it is an artifact that unlocks an additional loadout slot, which changes how Juno plays outside the Dream as well as inside it. Verse of the Gods and Whisper of the Gods are essence bundles that feed gem crafting, and buying them here is a way to bypass the per-rarity supply limits on essences dropped by enemies.20202121Planned Changes22222323Perk prices are staying where they are through the 0.2.0 update, on the studio’s reasoning that the other changes to the mode already make unlocks arrive faster. One new Perk grants a free Blessing at the start of a dive. In the finished game Perks are planned to unlock gradually across the main story; for Early Access they all stay available from the start.24242525Nightmare Mode, a build-your-own-challenge layer that trades added difficulty for better token exchange rates, is confirmed but explicitly deferred past 0.2.0. It waits on a dedicated menu opened from the bed beside Somu, which will also track a best-run score, a run history and quick Perk toggles.262627+The rework named above would replace the flat rates in the table with depth multipliers: the first layer keeps its 250 point clear bonus, the second pays double, the third triple, and the flawless-layer bonus scales the same way instead of sitting at a flat 1,000. Harder bosses would also pay more than easier ones on the same layer. The studio has said this needs a substantial code refactor plus new per-layer bonus display and end-of-dive summary stats, so it is not arriving in 0.2.0.28+2729See Also28302931Dream ShardsRoguelite ModePerksEssencesArtifacts
