11The Pendicis Caestos is an optional sidequest boss in Alabaster Dawn. It is the enraged form of a Pendicis, a flying fish-like Nuemera linked to the Aether Aspect, and it is fought at Lake Vasia in Koro Valley during the Free the Fish side quest.2233Stat Block4455SituationLevelHPEXP at LevelFree the Fish (Lake Vasia)161200058266Combat7788The Pendicis Caestos is a flying enemy that mostly stays low but rises during some attacks, and it moves around a lot, which makes melee awkward. It takes increased break accumulation from Aether and resists the other elements. Like most bosses it takes a long time to break, and once broken it loses its resistance and drops to the ground. The fight runs across three phases separated by HP thresholds.991010Phase 111111212It cycles four attacks: upgraded versions of the basic Pendicis's three moves plus a rarer special. It fires a spread of three lightning beams with the outer two delayed, spins like a sawblade and dashes (parryable for break), and throws two Aether orbs where the low, second-thrown orb actually lands first while the high orb homes as it falls. Its special generates an Unstable Aether orb overhead that periodically shoots lightning and pulls Juno inward; the boss is invulnerable until Juno destroys the orb, though it eventually dissipates on its own.13131414Phase 2 (70% HP)15151616It recovers from being broken and powers up. The beam attack now spreads five beams with the second and fourth delayed, the dash chains twice (parrying the first still ends it), and the throw adds a second high orb so it starts overlapping the next attack. The Unstable Aether orb gains more health and lasts longer.17171818Phase 3 (40% HP)19192020It recovers again and escalates further. The beam attack spreads seven beams alternating immediate and delayed with an immediate central beam, the dash chains three times, and the throw uses three high orbs that can significantly overlap the following attack. The Unstable Aether orb is tougher still.21212222Tips23232424Prioritize an Aether loadout so the long break bar is achievable inside a single phase.Destroy the Unstable Aether orb quickly. Chasing damage while it is up wastes the window and keeps the boss invulnerable.Parry the first dash. It cancels the whole chain even in the later phases.25252626See Also27272828PendicisNuemeraKoro ValleySide QuestsAspects
