11 Essences are a type of item in Alabaster Dawn. They are obtained from many sources, but primarily from foraging and defeating Nuemera.

33 Essences fuel gem crafting: Artificers consume them, together with blueprints or constructs, when creating gems. Their item descriptions describe them as raw material for gem crafting carried out by Artificers, and the first blueprints are handed out during an Artificer tutorial. Gem upgrading is planned but not yet available.

2525 Essence drop rates use the upstream wording: "often" for foraged plant and standard enemy drops, and "always" for guaranteed drops from miniboss-tier enemies like Aranea Mu and Testudo Irae. Essences are worth stockpiling: blueprint crafting consumes them in batches, and the per-rarity supply limits how many gems can be made.

2727 Whisper of the Gods and Verse of the Gods can also be bought with Sleep Tokens from Somu's Token Exchange after a first completed Dream dive. The Dojo planned for the 0.2.0 update will add another use: unlocking practice enemies by spending a few of their essences.
