This page covers mounts and exploration in Xenoblade Genesis based on what was shown in the June 9, 2026 reveal trailer. Very little has been confirmed: the trailer offered only glimpses, and Nintendo's official page does not detail traversal or world systems. Everything below should be read as an early impression rather than confirmed gameplay.
Mounts
Two kinds of mount appear in the reveal trailer. The first is a four-legged creature described as resembling a cross between a wolf and a horse, ridden across open country. The second is a dragon, ridden by a different character. Neither is named, and nothing indicates whether they are separate systems, whether the dragon is tied to one character or one story moment, or whether either is player-controlled at all. How mounts are obtained and what role they play in moment-to-moment gameplay have not been explained.

Exploration
The footage suggests that exploration spans a sizable world, the land of Anshar described on the Setting and World page. Interpretations of the world's scale vary across early coverage, so any claim about how large or how open the world is should be treated cautiously until the developers show actual gameplay.
What Is Not Yet Known
The following have not been confirmed and are deferred until a gameplay showing:
Whether the world is fully open or structured into separate areas.
Traversal mechanics on foot, such as climbing, swimming, or jumping.
Fast travel and map systems.
Mount controls, speed, combat-while-mounted, or upgrades.
For the broader world this exploration takes place in, see Setting and World. For the game as a whole, see Xenoblade Genesis.
