11Trees and bushes are plantable saplings that grow into harvestable fruit or wood sources in Windrose.2233Variants4455A complete list of Trees and Bushes variants in Windrose is shown below, with thumbnail, build cost, and comfort bonus for each entry. They do not require a Seedbed, and they grow into harvestable wood and fruit sources after a fixed real-time growth window. The seeds drop from felling wild specimens of the same species in the Foothills or from chopping certain trees in the Coastal Jungle.11111212SpeciesPlanting SurfaceSeed SourceMature YieldShrub SaplingPlot groundShrub SeedsWood, plant fiber, occasional berriesFicus SaplingPlot groundFicus SeedsWood, plant fiber, ficus fruitPalm SaplingPlot groundPalm SeedsWood, palm fronds, coconuts1313Seedbed Crops14141515Seedbed crops require a built Seedbed structure rather than open ground. The Hotfix 0.10.0.4.268 patch on April 30, 2026 added four new Seedbed variations and shipped growth-stage and harvest sound and visual effects across all crops, so the planting and harvesting cadence is now clearer than at launch. Each crop has a fixed grow time and a yield range; consult the dedicated page for current numbers.16161717CropUseNotesPeppersCooking ingredient and seed sourceCommon starter crop; seeds drop from wild Foothills shrubs.Sweet PotatoCooking ingredientCalorie-dense, supports several mid-game recipes.BeanCooking ingredientLong grow window; high yield per harvest.LeekCooking ingredientPairs with most stew and soup recipes.TomatoCooking ingredientFrequent in mid-tier mixed dishes.CornCooking ingredient and decorationUsed both as food and for some Old World decoration recipes.FlaxPlant fiber inputCrafting-only; produces Flax Fiber for cloth and rope chains.CocoplumCooking ingredientSweet fruit, used in several drink and dessert dishes.1818Wild Foothills Flora19192020The Foothills biome hosts the bulk of the wild flora that supplies the planting loop with seeds and the building loop with raw wood. Two species in particular dominate the harvest schedule: Divi-Divi trees, which yield Hardwood when felled, and Flax Fibers bushes, which provide a renewable plant-fiber source without requiring a seedbed. The Hotfix 0.10.0.4.268 patch raised the Hardwood drop rate from Divi-Divi by twenty percent, which materially shortened the time-to-Hardwood for any player gating on it.21212222Wild SpeciesBiomePrimary DropNotesDivi-DiviFoothillsHardwoodHardwood drop rate +20% as of 2026-04-30; primary tree for mid-tier building.Flax FibersFoothillsPlant FiberRenewable bush; primary fiber source before Flax seedbeds are running.Banana TreeCoastal JungleBananas, plant fiberCommon; yields bananas plus a small chance of seeds.Wild PalmCoastal JungleWood, fronds, coconutsSource of Palm Seeds for ground planting.Wild FicusCoastal Jungle, FoothillsWood, ficus fruitSource of Ficus Seeds for ground planting.Wild ShrubCoastal Jungle, FoothillsPlant fiber, berriesSource of Shrub Seeds; lowest-tier ground plant.MahoganyFoothillsMahogany WoodLate-Foothills tree; key input for the Mahogany building set.2323How Trees and Bushes Connect to Other Systems24242525Trees and bushes are the entry point for two long progression chains. The wood chain feeds Base Building through the building-piece recipes (logs to planks to set-specific pieces) and the cooking chain through fruit and herb inputs. The fiber chain feeds Cloth production at Tailoring stations, which in turn supplies armor and sail crafts. Players running a homestead loop will end up touching every species in this list before they reach mid-tier gear.26262727The Hotfix 0.10.0.4.268 patch's Seedbed additions and the Hardwood buff together pulled the early-to-mid pivot earlier in the play curve. Players who timed their first base build around the launch yield rates can typically clear the same milestones one to two real-time hours faster on the post-patch build, mostly because of the Hardwood drop change.
