1919 The in-game emblem matches the flag historically associated with Stede Bonnet, the wealthy Barbadian planter who turned pirate in 1717 and briefly sailed under Edward Teach in 1718. Surviving period descriptions place a skull above a horizontal long bone, with a heart on one side and a dagger on the other, as a symbol of the pirate's choice between mercy and death. Bonnet was captured later that same year and hanged in Charleston, ending one of the shortest careers in golden-age piracy.
