Ship Design: Brethren's Frigate is a Recipe Papers item that unlocks the Brethren Frigate, the durable, 36-gun Frigate variant of the Brethren of the Coast. Brethren ships are sea fortresses; this design produces the most defensively oriented Frigate in the game.

Effect

Reading the design adds the Brethren Frigate recipe to your Shipwright menu. Once unlocked, the recipe persists across deaths; the paper is consumed.

How to Get the Design

Sold by the Brethren of the Coast Provisioner at the highest reputation tier. The Brethren Frigate is the single most expensive single-ship purchase in the Brethren stock. Reaching the buy line typically requires a finished faction quest chain plus a long stretch of contract running.

Tips

• 36 guns means 18 per side. The reload cycle and powder consumption are correspondingly large; keep a full hold of Munitions before any sustained engagement.

• Pair the hull with Plans: Tempered 36-Pounders or Plans: Perfectly Ordered 36-Pounders for the best per-shot damage at range.

• The slowest Frigate in the game still outruns a Brig under broadside fire, but you cannot escape a Blackbeard Frigate in a tail chase. Plan engagements where the Brethren Frigate is the lead trade rather than the runner.
