The blade is a one-handed fencing weapon, so it leaves the off-hand free for a Pistol or torch in the same way the Rapiers and Sabers lines do. Fencing weapons reward the dodge-and-thrust playstyle that the Fencer Talents branch is built around.

Some merchants in Tortuga also rotate a small selection of plans through their stock. The paper is consumed when it is read, and reading it adds the listed entry to the relevant crafting station's recipe list permanently for that character, with no further fee.
