The Last Letter closes Marcel Boucher's expedition story. The pirates have caught him. He is bleeding out and trying to leave a message for Henri before he dies.

The pirates finally caught up with us. They must have taken me for dead, though I'll soon be for certain. Blood is pouring from my belly without end. I'm sure the others in the island's remaining ruins are dead as well.

The 'Henri' the dying Marcel addresses is Henri Boucher, a Buccaneers contact in the modern game timeline. The Last Letter is the player-side proof that Marcel was the leader of the expedition and that he died at the Destroyed Buccaneer Fort.
