11 Carpets are floor-laid cloth decorations in Windrose. They include runners, large rugs, and patterned mats that snap to the center of a floor tile, warm up an interior, and add a comfort bonus to the room. Every variant in this group is built from a small stack of crafted fabric, so carpets are an inexpensive way to lift a settlement's comfort once a loom and tannery are running. 1010 All seven carpet variants are crafted and placed in build mode, not looted. Each costs five units of a single cloth: Tarred Fabric, Plant Fiber, or Linen Fabric. Plant Fiber is gathered directly from bushes across every biome, while Tarred Fabric and Linen Fabric are processed cloths, so the patterned and ethnic variants cost slightly more crafting time than the plain woven pieces. Lay carpets through the Base Building menu like any other floor decoration.

1414 Each carpet contributes Carpets +1 to a room's comfort rating. The bonus is per sub-category, not per item: placing a second carpet of any variant changes only the look of the room and does not add a second point of comfort. Mix a carpet with other decoration groups, rather than stacking carpets, to keep raising the overall comfort score that governs rested bonuses and crew mood.

1818 Center a runner or rug under a bed or a seating cluster to define the space; carpets snap to the middle of a single floor tile.Pick the variant whose cloth you already have surplus of. The comfort value is identical, so the choice is purely cosmetic and budget-driven.Because the comfort bonus does not stack, spread different decoration types around a room instead of laying several carpets in one space.
