Lann is one of four playable characters in Vindictus: Defying Fate. He wields twin swords and fights with rapid, flashy techniques that chain together into long combo strings. His combat style is built around speed and aggression — he has no shield, no heavy armor, and no way to tank hits. What he has instead is an extremely responsive dodge system that lets him reposition mid-combo and punish enemies from angles they don't expect.
He was one of the original playable characters in the 2010 Vindictus MMO and returns here with a redesigned moveset adapted for the game's more deliberate combat pacing.
Lann's defining trait is his Double Dodge — he can dodge multiple times in any direction, giving him more evasive options than any other character. Where Fiona relies on her shield and Karok tanks through hits, Lann simply isn't where the attack lands. His lighter build means he takes more damage when he does get hit, so the margin for error is smaller.
His combo system rewards sustained pressure. Landing basic attacks flows into strong attacks, which flow into skill activations. The goal is to stay in the enemy's face, dodge through their swings, and keep the damage chain going. Dropping the combo to retreat and heal wastes Lann's biggest advantage: his speed.
Cross Assault: A crossing slash attack that hits hard from both sides.
Windmill: A spinning attack that hits enemies in a radius around Lann.
Raging Fever: An aggressive flurry that ramps up damage with each successive hit.
Fatal Fury: A finishing skill that deals heavy burst damage.
Lann is the character for players who want to be constantly moving and attacking. He rewards mechanical skill with fast reflexes and combo knowledge. If you like dual-wield classes that stay in melee range and outmaneuver enemies rather than out-muscle them, Lann is the natural pick.
He's been compared to dual-wield classes in games like The First Berserker: Khazan. The main difference is Lann's deeper dodge system — most Soulslike characters get one roll, maybe two. Lann can chain dodges back to back, which makes his skill ceiling higher but also means you need to actually use that mobility to survive. Standing still and trading hits does not work for him.
Lann has no defensive tools beyond dodging. He cannot block, parry, or absorb hits. His lighter frame means incoming damage is less forgiving than on Karok or Fiona. Against bosses with wide AoE attacks or rapid multi-hit combos, Lann players need to know exactly which dodge direction gets them out safely. Newer players often find him harder to pick up than Fiona for this reason.
