11Story Mode is the cinematic, single-player path through The Hidden Ones. It is a PvE campaign that strings together fully animated cutscenes, voice acting, and boss encounters, telling an original story set in the Outcast world rather than a straight retelling of the source.223+34How It Plays4556Progression is brawler-style: you push through waves of enemies toward a boss encounter at the end of a stretch. Each boss is themed around the chapter it sits in, with mechanics and a design that reflect that part of the story. The mode leans on the same skill-based Combat System used everywhere else in the game, so reading attack tells, managing stamina, and timing your dodges and parries all carry over from moment-to-moment fights into the bigger boss duels.6778The campaign is told from more than one point of view. As shown so far, Story Mode moves across multiple playable perspectives rather than following a single fighter the whole way through, which lets different members of the roster take the lead across chapters.89910Boss Fights and Revives10111112Boss encounters are designed to be learnable rather than punishing. In test builds, each boss granted roughly five attempts, with the player respawning at the point of death rather than restarting the whole fight. Importantly, the boss's health persisted between those attempts, so chipping a boss down across several tries still made progress. Some bosses were two-phase, shifting into a tougher second form partway through the fight.12131314Those revive and phase details come from hands-on test builds and may be tuned before release, but they point to a campaign that wants players to push through difficult bosses by learning their patterns rather than grinding a fight from scratch each time.14151516An Original Story in the Outcast World16171718The campaign is an original story set in the modern-day supernatural world of the Outcasts, the ordinary-looking people who wield superhuman martial and spiritual powers. For more on that setting, see World and Setting. While the plot is new, Story Mode reproduces famous arcs from the source as in-game chapters. The clearest confirmed example is the Fulfilled Attack, the adaptation of a well-known source storyline that pits players against the enemy faction known as The Fulfilled.18191920Because the story is original to the game, its lore is documented from what the trailers, the official material, and the test builds have shown, not from the source series on its own.20212122Related Pages22232324Bosses: the boss encounters seen so far and how they are built. The Fulfilled: the enemy faction at the heart of a key Story arc.Characters: the fighters who lead the campaign's chapters.Combat System: the four pillars Story Mode shares with the rest of the game.
