Comprehensive article on the Star Fall Society faction
The Star Fall Society is the primary resistance organization opposing Celestial rule in The God Slayer. Operating from hidden bases throughout Zhou, the Society provides intelligence, stealth gadgets, blueprints, and mission support to those who fight against divine oppression. Cheng becomes involved with the Society early in the game's story, initially following their directives before eventually rising to command operations himself.
The Star Fall Society formed in the aftermath of The God Fall. While most of Zhou's population submitted to Celestial authority — either out of fear or genuine worship — a small group of survivors refused to accept divine rule. They organized in secret, recruiting sympathizers from all levels of society and building a network of safe houses, intelligence drops, and supply caches throughout the city's underground.
The Star Fall Society serves multiple gameplay functions:
Mission Support — The Society provides mission briefings, intel on Celestial movements, and extraction plans for Cheng's operations
Stealth Gadgets — Society contacts supply tools that enable stealth gameplay routes — distractions, smoke devices, and infiltration aids
Blueprints — Crafting unlocks and equipment schematics acquired through Society contacts
Quest Givers — Society members offer side quests that expand the story and provide progression rewards
Traversal Upgrades — Completing Society missions unlocks new traversal capabilities
Cheng's relationship with the Star Fall Society evolves over the seven-chapter story. Initially, he operates as a field agent following orders. As his reputation and power grow — particularly after earning the title of God Slayer — he transitions into a leadership role, directing operations and making strategic decisions that shape the resistance's direction.
The Society includes characters from all walks of Zhou's life — former soldiers, disillusioned intellectuals, working-class laborers, and even sympathetic members of the upper class. Their diverse backgrounds provide different perspectives on the Celestial problem and offer varied quest lines throughout the game.
