Initial version
The Celestials are the divine antagonists of The God Slayer - gods who created the world and now rule over humanity with an iron fist.
Overview
The Celestials are powerful gods who created the world of The God Slayer. The world runs on a force called Qi, which the Celestials farm from humanity for their own purposes.
Conflict with Humanity
The relationship between Celestials and humans turned hostile when humanity learned to harness Qi into elemental powers, creating Elemancers. The Celestials viewed this as a threat and responded with overwhelming force.
In a single night, they conquered the strongest kingdom, killing its king and its Elemancers. This display of power was meant to be an example to all humanity of the consequences of defiance.
Divine Rule
Following their conquest, the Celestials reign over humanity with what is described as a divine fist. They continue to farm humans for Qi energy, treating mortals as a resource rather than beings worthy of freedom.
Opposition
Despite the Celestials' power, humans like Cheng refuse to bow. Elemancers who survived or emerged after the conquest form the resistance, using the very elemental powers that angered the gods to fight back.
Role in Story
The Celestials serve as the primary antagonists of The God Slayer. Cheng's 40-hour adventure involves building a resistance movement capable of challenging these divine oppressors and liberating humanity from their rule.
