A Fatal Error in the Windows version of Solarpunk can have several causes. The troubleshooting steps below cover file checks, drivers, overlays and reported hardware-specific workarounds. They are checks to try individually, rather than a guaranteed diagnosis or fix.
Start with General Checks
Install Windows updates, including optional driver updates where appropriate, then restart.
Verify the game files and update the graphics driver. If a new driver coincided with the crashes, test an earlier stable version.
Temporarily disable overlays and background software that may interfere with the game.
Try lower graphics settings and a 60 FPS cap. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it helps.
Intel Core Ultra Systems
The support guidance identifies the Intel NPU or AI Boost driver as a suspected cause on some Core Ultra systems. Update Intel graphics, chipset and NPU drivers first. If the issue continues, the suggested test is temporarily disabling the Intel NPU in Device Manager, restarting, and checking the game again. Re-enable the device after testing. Solarpunk does not require the NPU to run.
AMD Graphics Workarounds
Try a clean graphics driver installation or an earlier stable driver if a recent update introduced the problem. Borderless Windowed mode may help when crashes occur in fullscreen. A reported launch-option workaround is -dx12 -workerthreads=4; remove these options if they do not help or make the problem worse.
Other suggested tests include a 60 FPS cap and temporarily disabling FreeSync, Enhanced Sync, Anti-Lag, overlays, performance metrics and HDR. A single monitor at 60 Hz can help isolate a display-related issue. These are diagnostic tests, not requirements for playing the game.
Record the Crash
Crash files are normally under the Solarpunk Saved\Crashes folder in your user account's AppData\Local directory. Logs are under Saved\Logs in the same location. Keep these files and note whether the crash occurs on startup, while loading a save, during play, or after a particular input. Include whether it happens every time or intermittently when reporting the issue.
Check System Requirements against your PC and use Updates and Patches to compare the installed build with fixes already released. A Fatal Error alone does not show that the PC is below the minimum specification.
