11 Ships in Sea of Remnants are assembled rather than chosen. First party descriptions consistently use the language of custom parts, cannons and modular upgrades, and a captain is expected to grow from a single hull into a fleet. Ships also serve as faction identity: the six named groups on the sea are described interchangeably as fleets and as the ships at their centre.

1213 The Drift Bottle is the vessel the player takes the helm of. Its origins are described as a mystery, but it is built to last, with a dependable design and steady performance, and a distinctive fishbone figurehead that is said to resonate with the creatures of the sea. The framing at its introduction is that an unknown explorer from Orbtopia takes the wheel and, bound to the ship by something unseen, sets out on a voyage the whole sea will come to know.

1920 The Fireworks Wanderer is the vessel of the Wanderer fleet. Its crew were once feared across the seas and then fell far enough to become a joke passed from port to port, losing treasure, dreams, ambition and the people they cared about most. They found their way back to the ship and to each other. The ship's forgotten voyage is described as beginning again when its captain, Edward, stirs from a long drunken haze.

Legendary Artillery entries carry a numeral suffix, which suggests ranks within a tier, though no rank system has been described. Artillery is mounted in pairs or in fours depending on the vessel and tier.
