11Overview2233Roco Kingdom: World features three distinct types of special spirit appearances that go beyond the standard form. These variants, collectively known as Shiny and Variant Spirits, provide collectors and competitive players with rare, visually distinct, and sometimes mechanically unique versions of existing spirits. The three categories are Shiny/Chromatic (异色), Colorful/Prismatic (炫彩), and Corrupted/Pollution (污染). Each type is obtained through different methods, carries different visual effects, and has distinct properties that affect gameplay.4455Variant Type Comparison6677TypeChinese NameAppearanceHow to ObtainRaritySpecial PropertiesShiny / Chromatic异色Unique color palette swap; each shiny has a specific alternate colorway1.8% chance from Nightmare Shackles corrupted spirit defeats; guaranteed pity after 80 encountersRare (1.8% base rate)Exclusive seasonal color variations; 19 spirits have shiny forms at launch; 16 Season 1 exclusive shiny variantsColorful / Prismatic炫彩Random color variation; sparkle effects; bright, vivid palettesCaught using Prism Balls (棱镜球); premium capture itemUncommon (limited by Prism Ball availability)Guaranteed "Excellent" talent tier; random color assignment; premium qualityCorrupted / Pollution污染Purple glow effect; dark aura surrounding the spiritDefeating Nightmare spirits and receiving the corruption outcomeModerate (depends on Nightmare spawn frequency)Corruption Bloodline trait; unique purple visual effect88Nightmare Shackles System991010The Nightmare Shackles system is the primary mechanism that generates both Shiny and Corrupted spirit variants. When a player captures 20 spirits in a single area, the Nightmare Shackles trigger, causing corrupted spirit spawns to appear in that zone. These corrupted spirits glow with a dark aura and are visually distinct from normal encounters.11111212Defeating a corrupted Nightmare spirit produces one of three outcomes, each determined by a random roll.13131414Normal Revert: The spirit returns to its standard form. This is the most common outcome.Corruption: The spirit becomes a Corrupted/Pollution variant with a purple glow and gains the Corruption Bloodline. This outcome is moderately common.Shiny: The spirit becomes a Shiny/Chromatic variant with a unique color palette. This outcome has a 1.8% base chance per encounter.15151616The Nightmare Shackles system is connected to the broader narrative of Season 1: Dark Night Collecting Light, where the corruption spreading across the continent is tied to the influence of Dragon Breath Parasus. Lu Meng's research at the Box Research Laboratory directly investigates this phenomenon.17171818Shiny / Chromatic Spirits19192020Shiny spirits (异色) are the rarest and most coveted variant type. Each shiny spirit has a specific alternate color palette that is unique to that species. At launch, only 19 spirits have shiny forms available, making them a limited and exclusive collector's goal.21212222Shiny Rates and Pity System23232424The base rate for obtaining a shiny spirit from a Nightmare Shackles encounter is 1.8%. While this is not astronomically low, it means that most players will need dozens of Nightmare encounters before finding their first shiny. To prevent extreme bad luck, the game implements a pity system that guarantees a shiny outcome after 80 consecutive Nightmare encounters without receiving one. This pity counter resets whenever a shiny is obtained.25252626MetricValueBase Shiny Rate1.8% per Nightmare encounterPity Guarantee80 encounters without a shinyPity Counter ResetUpon obtaining any shiny spiritAvailable Shiny Forms (Launch)19 spiritsSeason 1 Exclusive Shiny Variants16 additional variants2727Season-Exclusive Shiny Variants28282929Each season introduces a set of shiny color variants that are exclusive to that season. Season 1 adds 16 season-exclusive shiny variants that can only be obtained while Season 1 content is active. These seasonal shiny variants feature unique colorways that differ from the base shiny forms, making them true collector's pieces. When the season rotates, these specific variants are no longer obtainable until a potential rerun.30303131Colorful / Prismatic Spirits32323333Colorful spirits (炫彩) are obtained through a premium capture method using Prism Balls (棱镜球). Unlike shiny variants, which have a fixed alternate color, Prismatic spirits receive a random color assignment from a wide palette when captured. This means two Prismatic versions of the same spirit can look different from each other.34343535The key mechanical benefit of Prismatic spirits is their guaranteed "Excellent" talent tier. In the spirit cultivation system, talent tiers affect a spirit's stat growth potential. An Excellent-tier spirit has significantly better stat ceilings than a Normal or Good-tier spirit. This makes Prismatic spirits functionally superior from a min-maxing perspective, not just aesthetically different.36363737Prism Ball Source: Prism Balls are a premium item, obtainable through certain in-game events, the season pass, or purchased through the Random Color: Each capture assigns a random color; there is no way to target a specific color.Guaranteed Excellent Tier: The primary gameplay advantage. This keeps top-tier stat growth potential.Visual Effects: Prismatic spirits display a subtle sparkle effect in addition to their color variation.383839394040Corrupted / Pollution Spirits41414242Corrupted spirits (污染) are obtained when the corruption outcome triggers from defeating a Nightmare spirit via the Nightmare Shackles system. These spirits display a distinctive purple glow effect that surrounds them at all times, giving them an ominous and unique visual identity.43434444Corrupted spirits carry the Corruption Bloodline trait, which is a special bloodline marker unique to this variant type. The Corruption Bloodline can interact with certain breeding mechanics and may provide unique advantages in specific game modes. Collecting Corrupted spirits is less about raw competitive power and more about building a unique collection and participating in corruption-themed content.45454646Shiny Hunting Strategy47474848For players who want to systematically hunt shiny spirits, the following approach maximizes efficiency.49495050Choose a High-Density Area: Select a zone with a large number of spirit spawns close together. More spawns mean faster capture loops.Trigger Nightmare Shackles: Capture 20 spirits in the chosen area to activate the Nightmare Shackles and begin corrupted spawns.Farm Nightmare Spirits: Defeat every corrupted Nightmare spirit that appears. Each defeat is one roll toward the shiny outcome.Track Your Pity Counter: After 80 encounters without a shiny, the next Nightmare spirit is guaranteed to yield a shiny. Keep count.Repeat in Target Areas: If you want a specific species' shiny form, ensure you are farming in the zone where that species spawns.Use Strong Teams: Fast, powerful teams with good type coverage against the local spirits speed up the farming loop. Refer to the Team Building Guide for recommendations.51515252Tips53535454Only 19 spirits have shiny forms at launch. Check the shiny list before farming to avoid wasting time in areas without shiny-eligible spirits.Season-exclusive shiny variants are time-limited; prioritize them before the season ends.Prism Balls are the only way to get guaranteed Excellent-tier spirits. Use them on species you plan to invest heavily in for PVP.Corrupted spirits with the Corruption Bloodline may gain future content relevance; collecting them now is a low-cost investment. The 1.8% shiny rate means you should expect roughly 55 encounters per shiny on average. The pity system at 80 is a safety net, not the expected norm.Nightmare Shackles reset after leaving an area for an extended period. Complete your farming sessions in one sitting when possible.555556563x3 Farming Method57575858The 3x3 method is the standard community-tested approach for grinding shiny variants in a targeted sanctuary zone. It alternates captures between two spirit types in groups of three so that Nightmare Shackles build up quickly without the session drifting onto unrelated spirits.59596060Setup61616262Pick a sanctuary zone where both target types spawn densely. Volcanic zones work for Fire and Grass pairs, ice biomes work for Ice and Ghost pairs, and so on.Place fruit items for both target species in the sanctuary so wild spawns favor those families.Restrict all captures to the sanctuary. Leaving the zone risks resetting the encounter streak used to trigger Nightmare Shackles.63636464Rotation65656666Capture three spirits of Type A in a row, without switching targets or fleeing.Immediately capture three spirits of Type B in a row.Repeat the A to B rotation. Every shield break during the rotation counts as one roll toward the shiny outcome at the base 1.8 percent rate. The guarantee counter persists across play sessions for the current family lineage. It resets only when the rotation switches to a different family, so stay disciplined on the two chosen targets until the shiny drops.67676868Why it Works69697070Nightmare Shackles spawn more frequently when the capture streak stays inside a narrow family. The 3x3 alternation keeps the active streak high, keeps sanctuary aggro focused on the intended families, and prevents accidental counter resets from chasing unrelated spawns. Complementary types, such as Electric paired with Phantom or Fire paired with Grass, also let players exploit move coverage to break Nightmare shields faster.71717272April 16, 2026 Recall Multiplier Buffs73737474The April 16 Magic Renewal patch sharply increased the amount of cultivation material returned when Pollution Bloodline and shiny spirits are recalled (retired) from the Spirit Box.75757676Recall CategoryPrevious MultiplierCurrent MultiplierPollution Bloodline spirits3x5xShiny spirits3x10x7777The 10x shiny multiplier makes recalling duplicate shinies the fastest source of advanced cultivation materials in the game. Because the multiplier applies retroactively to shinies caught before the patch, players with a backlog of unused shiny duplicates should clear them before investing in alternative material farms.78787979Season 2 Variant Theme and Lucky Surprise Box80808181Season 2 (Carnival Strange Tales, launching at 04:00 on May 21, 2026) refreshes the variant lineup with eighteen total recolors split between new season-exclusive forms and seasonal returns of Season 1 alternates. The Season 2 variant theme is a red-and-black circus color palette applied across the new spirit roster and select returning shinies.82828383The variant capture mechanic also updates at S2 launch. The previous "Corrupted" branch from the Nightmare Shackles system is rebranded as a Lucky Surprise Box outcome. The trigger and base odds remain similar, but the box can roll between variant capture rewards, cultivation materials, and cosmetic exchange tokens for the Season 2 carnival event track. Pity counters carried over from Season 1 reset at the Season 2 cutover.84848585A new premium ball, the Dazzle Ball (炫彩球)), replaces the chromatic role the Prism Ball filled in Season 1. The Dazzle Ball is craftable through the Season 2 pass reward track and applies a multiplicative variant-capture bonus on its target. See Gulu Balls for the full ball list and crafting recipes.86868787See Also88888989Spirits - Complete spirit rosterSpirit Cultivation - Talent tiers, stat growth, and trainingBreeding and Eggs - Corruption Bloodline inheritanceSeason 1: Dark Night Collecting Light - Seasonal content and exclusive variantsDragon Breath Parasus - Legendary spirit connected to the corruptionLu Meng - Researcher studying the corruption phenomenonSeason Pass and Monetization - Prism Ball acquisition through premium options90+91+Pity Across a Season Change92+93+Shiny pity progress does not survive a season change by default. At the Season 3 to Season 4 changeover on September 10, 2026 the accumulated pity counter was cleared for almost everything.94+95+Two categories were exempted and carried their consecutive-capture pity into the new season: season pass spirits, and the Scarlet Tail family. Anyone part-way through a pity run on anything else lost that progress at the changeover, so the practical advice is to finish a pity run before a season boundary rather than across it.
