Star magic is unlocked through the open-world Magic System by completing the magic level milestones tied to the main quest. If the stake's interaction prompt is greyed out, return to the magic trainer and continue the magic-level chain until star magic becomes equippable.17+18+Star magic must be assigned to the active magic slot before the stake interaction works. Switching back from another magic (such as wind or earth magic) takes only a moment from the radial menu, but forgetting to swap is the single most common reason this hidden spawn appears to fail.19+20+Capture Tips21+22+Shadow Tree behaves as a stationary capture target after the stun, so backstab positioning is not needed for the first throw.A standard Gulu Ball succeeds at a reasonable rate after the stun. Save Advanced or Super balls if the first attempt fails.Once captured, Shadow Tree functions as a Ghost/Grass dual-type companion in line with its overworld role at the guild base.23+24+Connection to the Black Witch Group25+26+Shadow Tree thematically belongs to the Black Witch Group storyline and is the only hidden spirit at the guild base location. After the player's first capture, the wooden stake remains as a static prop; further attempts will not respawn another Shadow Tree.
