Initial article on Lion Cub: stats, evolution, counter-attack trait (2026-04-25)
Lion Cub is a Fire and Martial dual-type spirit cataloged as #156 in the Roco Kingdom: World spirit dex. It is the base form of a three-stage line that evolves into Blaze Lion at level 16 and Blazehart Lion at level 36. The line's trait, Holy Fire Knight, doubles the next attack's power after Lion Cub successfully responds to an incoming hit, making it a textbook counter-attacker.

Explosive Missile, Quench, Magic Amplification, Sustained High Temperature, Momentum Stack, and Incinerate
Sustained High Temperature pairs naturally with the Burn pressure ecosystem. See Emberkind Bug for the broader Burn-stacking strategy.
Lion Cub trades raw offensive output for a setup-and-counter pattern. Its 78 Magic Defense and 82 HP are high enough to absorb a single magic attack, and the doubled-power follow-up swing can push damage above what raw attackers without the trait achieve. The slow Speed 48 is a real limitation; in PvP, the player must accept that Lion Cub will almost never act first.
Use Lion Cub as a second or third pivot, not an opener. The trait requires a successful response, so leading with Lion Cub on turn one wastes the doubled hit.
Pair Lion Cub with a fast support that can apply defensive buffs or healing while Lion Cub absorbs the counter setup.
Avoid leaving Lion Cub in against Water, Wing, or Phantom opponents. Its dual Fire and Martial typing takes super-effective damage from each.
Magic Amplification on the buffed counter-swing turns the trait's bonus into a one-shot threat against many same-tier opponents.
