11Overview2233Smelting is the process of converting raw ores into refined ingots and other processed materials in Pokemon Pokopia. There are two distinct types of furnaces in the game: the Smelting Furnace for material processing and the Power Furnace (Generator) for producing electricity. A separate machine, the Concrete Mixer, handles Limestone processing in Sparkling Skylands.4455Smelting Furnace6677The Smelting Furnace is a crafting station that uses a Pokemon with the Burn specialty to heat raw ores into refined materials. To smelt:88991010Place raw ore near the Smelting Furnace.Lead a Pokemon with the Burn specialty (such as Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Torchic, or Combusken) to the furnace. The Burn Pokemon will heat the ore, converting it into refined material.11111212The Smelting Furnace needs power to operate. Connect it to a power grid using a Pokemon with the Generate specialty, or place it near a windmill or waterwheel.13131414All Smelting Recipes15151616Raw MaterialProductRatioSource LocationCopper OreCopper Ingot1:1Rocky RidgesIron OreIron Ingot1:1Rocky RidgesGold OreGold Ingot1:1Rocky Ridges, Sparkling SkylandsPokemetal FragmentPokemetal1:1Sparkling SkylandsRare Pokemetal FragmentRare Pokemetal1:1Rare drop from Pokemetal blocksSand / SandstoneGlass1:1Bleak BeachVolcanic AshGlass1:1Rocky Ridges1717Concrete Mixer18181919The Concrete Mixer is a separate processing station unlocked in Sparkling Skylands. It converts Limestone into Concrete with the help of a Pokemon with the Crush specialty. Concrete is a late-game building material used for large-scale construction. Limestone can also be crafted into Marble (4 Limestone → 1 Marble) at a regular Workbench without any specialty requirement.20202121Finding Ores22222323OrePrimary LocationNotesCopper OreRocky Ridges mine entranceMost basic ore; visible as reddish nuggets in rockIron OreRocky Ridges deep minesSilver nuggets in dark rock; needs powered-up Rock SmashGold OreRocky Ridges, Sparkling SkylandsRarest standard ore; golden streaks in rockPokemetal FragmentSparkling SkylandsNear waterfalls and behind Tinkmaster's towerLimestoneRocky Ridges, Rock Peak Dream IslandsPale stone; processed at Concrete Mixer or WorkbenchVolcanic AshRocky Ridges volcanic areasFine powder near vents; smelts into Glass2424Power Furnace (Generator)25252626The Power Furnace (also called the Furnace Generator) is a completely separate item from the Smelting Furnace. It burns fuel (wood or coal) to generate electricity, producing approximately 15 to 25 power units. Power is distributed through Utility Poles or Wireless Power Transmitters to operate lamps, machines, and other electrical appliances.27272828Tinkgears29293030Iron Ingots have an additional use beyond standard crafting: Tinkmaster can convert 1 Iron Ingot into 3 Tinkgears, a special late-game material required for advanced structures like the Lift platform and other major building projects in Sparkling Skylands.31313232Obtaining the Smelting Furnace33333434The Smelting Furnace recipe is unlocked during the Rocky Ridges main story when you first encounter Magmar. After using the story-placed Smelting Furnace for the first time, the crafting recipe is added to your Workbench permanently, letting you build additional furnaces in any area.35353636Crafting Recipe37373838MaterialQuantityIron Ore4Stone43939Because the recipe calls for Iron Ore rather than Iron Ingots, you can craft your first personal Smelting Furnace before you have smelted anything. Gather four Iron Ore and four Stone from Rocky Ridges, then build the furnace at a Workbench.40404141Burn Specialty Pokemon42424343Any Pokemon with the Burn specialty can operate a Smelting Furnace. To assign a Burn Pokemon to a furnace, ask the Pokemon to follow you (press A near it), then walk up to the Smelting Furnace. The Pokemon will automatically begin working once it is close enough. You do not need to interact with the furnace yourself after that; the Pokemon will continue smelting as long as ore remains in the furnace.44444545Below is the complete list of Burn specialty Pokemon available in Pokopia, along with where to find them.46464747PokemonHabitatCharmanderWithered WastelandCharmeleonRocky RidgesCharizardEvolve CharmeleonVulpixWithered WastelandNinetalesEvolve Vulpix (Fire Stone)GrowlitheRocky RidgesArcanineEvolve Growlithe (Fire Stone)FlareonEvolve Eevee (Fire Stone)CyndaquilWithered WastelandQuilavaEvolve CyndaquilMagbyRocky RidgesMagmarRocky RidgesTorchicBleak BeachCombuskenEvolve TorchicBlazikenEvolve CombuskenTorkoalRocky RidgesLitwickWithered WastelandLampentEvolve LitwickRolycolyRocky RidgesCarkolEvolve RolycolyScorbunnyBleak BeachRabootEvolve ScorbunnyCharcadetRocky RidgesCeruledgeEvolve CharcadetVolcanionSparkling Skylands (post-game)4848Magmar is the recommended first Burn Pokemon because you encounter it during the Rocky Ridges story and it does not require evolution. For players who have not reached Rocky Ridges yet, Charmander and Cyndaquil can be befriended in Withered Wasteland early on.49495050Smelting Mechanics and Efficiency51515252One Ore Type at a Time53535454Each Smelting Furnace can only process one type of ore at a time. If you load Iron Ore, the furnace will continue smelting Iron Ingots until it runs out before you can switch to a different ore. To process multiple ore types simultaneously, build additional Smelting Furnaces and assign a Burn Pokemon to each one.55555656Collecting Finished Ingots Mid-Process57575858You do not need to wait for the entire batch to finish. Interact with the Smelting Furnace while a Burn Pokemon is still working and you can pick up the ingots that have already been completed. An arrow indicator on the furnace interface shows when the next ingot will be ready.59596060Automation Tips61616262Place a Smelting Furnace inside or immediately adjacent to the habitat of a Burn Pokemon. When the Pokemon returns home, it will automatically begin smelting any ore that has been placed in the furnace. This lets smelting run in the background while you explore other areas of the island.63636464For maximum throughput, set up a cluster of two to three Smelting Furnaces near your mining spot in Rocky Ridges with a Storage Box nearby. Station a different Burn Pokemon at each furnace, and keep ore organized by type so you can reload furnaces quickly.65656666Glass Production67676868Glass is a processed material created by smelting sand-based raw materials. Three different source materials can be used, all producing Glass at a 1:1 ratio.69697070Source MaterialFound AtNotesSandBleak Beach, Withered WastelandCommon on shorelines; easy to gather in bulkSandstoneRocky RidgesMined from sandstone blocks in cave areasVolcanic AshRocky RidgesFine powder near volcanic vents7171Glass is used in many crafting recipes including windows, mirrors, lighting fixtures, Stained Glass decorations, and various modern-style furniture items. Because Sand is the easiest source material to gather in large quantities, most players collect Sand at Bleak Beach for bulk Glass production.72727373Small amounts of Glass can also be obtained by breaking the broken windows found in abandoned structures around the island, though this is far less efficient than smelting.74747575Pokemetal and Rare Pokemetal Processing76767777Pokemetal is a rainbow-colored late-game material required for advanced crafting recipes, rebuilding projects, and machines like the 3D Printer. The smelting process for Pokemetal follows the same steps as regular ore: place Pokemetal Fragments in a Smelting Furnace and assign a Burn Pokemon.78787979Finding Pokemetal Fragments80808181Pokemetal Blocks appear in several locations. Break them with an enhanced Rock Smash (eat a Hamburger Steak first to power up the move) to obtain Pokemetal Fragments.82828383LocationDetailsWithered Wasteland mineNorth of the island; gate removed with enhanced Cut. There are two ways to obtain it:87878888Smelt Rare Pokemetal Fragments in a Smelting Furnace the same way as regular Pokemetal. Rare Pokemetal Fragments are a rare drop from Pokemetal Blocks.Give a Pokemon with the Rarify specialty a Star Piece to produce Rare Pokemetal directly.89899090You need a total of 10 Rare Pokemetal ingots to craft the Tidal Bell and Clear Bell (5 each), which are required for certain Legendary Pokemon encounters.91919292Ingot Uses in Crafting93939494Each type of ingot feeds into different crafting recipes.
