1212 Smearguru is the only Pokemon with the Paint specialty. Smearguru is a Bleak Beach NPC variant of Smeargle that joins your settlement once you complete its associated quest line. Once befriended, talk to Smearguru and provide bowls of Paint along with the item you want to recolor.

1616 Paint bowls are crafted at any Workbench using gathered materials. Each bowl contains one application of paint in a chosen color. Smearguru consumes the bowl when applying paint to an item.

1818 The Paint Material and Colors

2020 Smearguru applies the Paint material from crafted bowls, one application per bowl, and consumes the bowl when it recolors an item. Paint covers any of the 18 standard colors, and multi-zone items can have each paintable area recolored independently. Paintable surfaces include most furniture, decorations, building blocks, and event items. There is no other way to recolor an item once it has been placed, so Smearguru is the only repaint route in the game.
