Day and Night Cycle

Initial day/night cycle guide
Pokemon Pokopia uses a real-time day/night cycle synced to the Nintendo Switch 2's internal clock. The time of day affects the visual appearance of the world, which Pokemon appear, and certain gameplay events. There is no in-game method to change the time; players must adjust the Switch 2 system settings manually.
Period | Hours | Visual Description |
|---|---|---|
Morning | 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM | Warm sunrise lighting; dew on plants |
Daytime | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Bright, full sunlight |
Evening | 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM | Warm sunset colors; long shadows |
Nighttime | 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM | Dark skies; lights from electrical sources and campfires |
Several Pokemon only appear during specific time periods:
Pokemon | Time Requirement |
|---|---|
Espeon | Daytime only |
Umbreon | Nighttime only |
Hoothoot, Noctowl | Nighttime only |
Various Ghost-types | Nighttime preferred |
The game does not penalize time manipulation. Adjusting the Switch 2's system clock allows players to:
Skip construction wait times (buildings complete at 5:00 AM the next day).
Access time-exclusive Pokemon at any real-world hour.
Trigger "lucky days" which feature increased sparkling ripple and Lost Relic spawns (roughly every 7 in-game days). Some reports indicate Sundays have increased spawn rates.
