Materials support equipment upgrades and character progression in Phantom Blade Zero. Main weapons and Phantom Edges use different upgrade material groups, while Reforge Talismans and Soul Tempering materials serve separate equipment systems.
Main weapon upgrade materials
These materials are listed for upgrading main weapons. Upgrades improve stats and can unlock additional techniques. Check the selected weapon before spending materials; this list does not set a universal per-level recipe.

Phantom Edge upgrade materials
These are the listed upgrade materials for Phantom Edges. Merchant inventories and exploration can supply some of them; a material group does not establish one shared vendor or acquisition route for every entry.

Blackstones and Sha-Chi Ambers are character progression resources that can be found whole or as fragments. Weapon Reforge Talismans and Phantom Reforge Talismans belong to the equipment reset system.

Soul Tempering uses a material tied to the particular weapon together with Remnant Dust. It is separate from an ordinary upgrade and is irreversible. The two listed materials are examples in this catalog, not a universal recipe that works on any weapon.
Finding and recovering materials
Search treasure chests, optional routes and merchant inventories. Some rarer materials are tied to powerful enemies. Availability depends on the individual material.
Reforging resets equipment upgrades and recovers the invested materials so they can be used on another weapon. This does not establish an additional currency refund, a fee, or a return of a Soul Tempering investment.
