Updated article covering studio history, Tower of Fantasy, and NTE development
Hotta Studio is a Chinese game development studio and a subsidiary of Perfect World Games. The studio is best known for developing two open-world action RPGs: Tower of Fantasy (released 2022) and Neverness to Everness.
Hotta Studio's first major title was Tower of Fantasy, an open-world action RPG that launched globally in 2022. Built on Unreal Engine 4, Tower of Fantasy was a free-to-play gacha game with cooperative multiplayer, open-world exploration, and an anime-inspired art style. The game found a global audience and established Hotta Studio as a developer capable of producing large-scale online RPGs.
Neverness to Everness represents a massive technological and creative leap for Hotta Studio. Where Tower of Fantasy used Unreal Engine 4, NTE is built on Unreal Engine 5 with features like Lumen global illumination, Nanite virtualized geometry, ray tracing, and NVIDIA DLSS 4. The shift from a traditional fantasy anime setting to a modern supernatural urban world in Hethereau reflects the studio's ambition to push into new creative territory.
The studio has focused heavily on building NTE's open-world systems, including dynamic weather, NPC daily routines, vehicle physics, and seamless supernatural environmental transitions. The development has involved multiple closed beta tests to gather player feedback and refine the experience before launch.
