Expansion Core is a portable supplement that fills in for missing upgrade materials when you raise Esper Abilities or Arcs. When a development recipe asks for a specific material you do not have, the game lets you spend this substitute in its place. The quantity needed scales with the rarity of the material being replaced, so higher-rarity upgrades burn more of it. Both Modules and Cartridges upgrades, plus Esper Ability and Arc development, can pull from these substitute pools. It is best held in reserve for the moment a single missing material blocks an upgrade you want now, rather than burned routinely.
Development materials feed multiple systems (module EXP, cartridge EXP, Arc EXP, dye applications). Check which system is your current bottleneck before converting one bucket into another.
Expansion Core is stocked on the Hunter Exchange, so an extra copy is always a Fons purchase away when you fall short.
