Fix weapon banner: NTE has Arc gacha system using Tri-Keys, not None (gameplay-earned)
11Overview2233Neverness to Everness introduces what may be the most player-friendly gacha system in the action RPG genre. The headline innovation is the complete elimination of the 50/50 mechanic found in competitors like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves. Every S-Class character pulled from a limited banner is guaranteed to be the featured character. There is no chance of receiving an off-banner standard S-Class unit when hitting pity on a limited banner. This effectively halves the worst-case currency requirement compared to games where players could theoretically need up to 180 pulls to guarantee a specific character.4455Beyond removing the 50/50, NTE also replaces the traditional pull animation with an interactive board game called the Scarborough Fair. Instead of watching a standard summoning cutscene, players roll dice and advance across a game board, landing on tiles that deliver different rewards. The system transforms what is usually a passive experience into something closer to a tabletop game.6677The Scarborough Fair8899The Scarborough Fair (also called "The Fair" or "Dice Fair") is NTE's replacement for traditional gacha pulls. Players roll a standard six-sided die, and their character ("Chuppa") advances that many spaces on a Monopoly-style board. Each space delivers a corresponding reward based on its tile type.101011111212The board has a main loop with two smaller branching side loops extending from it. Players can enter the side loops by landing on tiles with arrows pointing to them. The board layout includes special convergence points called the Rainbow Bridge, where landing on adjacent spaces unlocks a diverging path. One path offers a guaranteed S-Class card, while the other provides 5 bonus dice.13131414Tile Types15151616TileDescriptionJourney TogetherInstant S-Class character. On limited banners, this is always the featured character. On the standard banner, it is a random S-Class from the permanent pool.Apprentice ChestThe most common tile (purple suitcase icon). Very small chance of an S-Class drop (0.2%). Otherwise awards a B-Class Arc.Hero ChestSecond most common tile (gold suitcase icon). Higher S-Class and A-Class rates than Apprentice Chests, with roughly a 3% S-Class chance. Also grants 2 Warp Pieces.A-Class CardGuarantees the featured A-Class character for that banner.Miracle BoxA black box with a question mark icon. Always drops an A-Class Arc (weapon).Roll AgainRefunds a stated number of pulls immediately, giving you free extra rolls.Warp Chess BoxGrants a specified number of Warp Pieces, which can be spent in the Fair Shop.Lost Chess BoxGrants a specified number of Lost Pieces for purchasing upgrade materials.SlumberlandSpawns a guardian 9 tiles ahead. If you catch the guardian within 3 turns, you receive 30 Warp Pieces.1717Guardian Encounters18181919Certain spaces on the board spawn guardians that appear 9 spaces ahead and move 2 spaces per turn. If the player catches up to the guardian within 3 dice rolls, they receive Warp Chess Pieces as a bonus reward. This adds a layer of strategic excitement to the rolling process, since high rolls become more valuable when chasing a guardian.20202121Pity System22222323NTE uses a layered pity system that increases S-Class rates the longer a player goes without pulling one. The base S-Class rate per roll is 1%, with a consolidated overall rate of approximately 1.87% to 1.88% when accounting for soft pity.24242525Pity TierPull ThresholdEffectA-Class GuaranteeEvery 10 pullsGuaranteed A-Class character or Arc every 10 rolls.Soft Pity70 pullsAfter 70 pulls without an S-Class, the board is modified. The number of Journey Together (S-Class) tiles increases tenfold, boosting the S-Class chance to approximately 19.5% per roll.Hard Pity90 pullsIf a player reaches 90 dice rolls without an S-Class, the game automatically awards the featured S-Class character.2626Most players trigger their S-Class between pulls 70 and 80 once soft pity activates. The modified board dramatically increases the Journey Together tiles, making it nearly impossible to reach hard pity under normal circumstances.27272828Banner Types29293030Limited Character Banner31313232The limited character banner uses Solid Dice (red dice) as its currency. Each banner features a specific limited-time S-Class character such as Nanally, Hotori, or Lacrimosa. The defining feature of this banner is the 100% featured character guarantee on every S-Class pull. There is absolutely no 50/50 chance of getting an off-banner character.33333434Starting from CBT3, limited banners also include cosmetic items directly on the board, such as glider skins, vehicle skins, and character-specific outfits. This creates a "completionist" incentive where the character itself is relatively easy to obtain, but acquiring their full cosmetic set requires deeper investment.35353636Standard/Permanent Banner37373838The standard banner uses Fabricated Dice (blue dice) and features the pool of standard (non-limited) S-Class characters. After completing 50 pulls on the standard banner, players unlock an S-Rank Selector that allows a free choice among the six available standard characters. New players also receive a 20% discount on the first 10 pulls on this banner.39394040Arc Banner41414242NTE makes another major departure from genre norms by largely eliminating the traditional weapon banner. Hotta Studio has stated that S-Class and most A-Class Arcs (weapons) can be obtained directly through gameplay or purchased with special currency. Tri-Keys can be used to buy S-Class Arcs from a dedicated shop at a rate of 25 keys per Arc. Only a few trace A-Class Arcs appear on the gacha board itself through Miracle Box tiles.43434444Gacha Currencies45454646CurrencyTypePurposeSolid DiceRed dicePulls on limited character banners. 1 die equals 1 pull.Fabricated DiceBlue dicePulls on the standard/permanent banner.AnnulithPremiumPremium currency obtainable from various sources. Unlike many competitors that force sequential ability unlocks, NTE allows players to choose any ability slot to unlock when they receive a duplicate. These selections remain changeable, letting players customize characters for different scenarios and team compositions.50505151Comparison to Competitors525253-FeatureNTEGenshin ImpactHonkai: Star RailWuthering Waves50/50 on limited bannerNo (100% featured)YesYesYes (guaranteed on 2nd)S-Class base rate~1% (1.88% consolidated)0.6%0.6%0.8%Hard pity90 pulls90 pulls90 pulls80 pullsSoft pity starts70 pulls~74 pulls~74 pulls~50 pullsWorst case for featured90 pulls180 pulls180 pulls160 pullsWeapon bannerNone (gameplay-earned)Yes (Epitomized Path)Yes (Light Cone)YesGacha formatInteractive dice boardPull animationPull animationPull animation53+FeatureNTEGenshin ImpactHonkai: Star RailWuthering Waves50/50 on limited bannerNo (100% featured)YesYesYes (guaranteed on 2nd)S-Class base rate~1% (1.88% consolidated)0.6%0.6%0.8%Hard pity90 pulls90 pulls90 pulls80 pullsSoft pity starts70 pulls~74 pulls~74 pulls~50 pullsWorst case for featured90 pulls180 pulls180 pulls160 pullsWeapon bannerYes (Arc Banner: Tri-Key 10-pull system, guaranteed S-Rank Arc at 60 pulls, signature weapon within 80 pulls)Yes (Epitomized Path)Yes (Light Cone)YesGacha formatInteractive dice boardPull animationPull animationPull animation5454Cosmetics Monetization55555656NTE appears to shift its primary monetization toward cosmetics rather than character and weapon acquisition. Glider skins, vehicle skins, and character-specific outfits are placed directly on the limited character board alongside the featured character. An outfit gacha runs alongside limited banners. This creates a completionist pulling incentive: the character itself is relatively easy to obtain, but their full aesthetic kit requires deeper investment. Premium skins appear to be the primary revenue driver, which players have generally accepted as fair given the generous character acquisition rates.57575858New Player Bonuses5959606020% discount on the first 10 pulls on the standard bannerS-Rank Selector after 50 standard banner pulls (choose from 6 standard S-Class characters)Pre-registration rewards include: Fabricated Dice x20, Beetle Coins x30,000, and Elite Hunter Guides x20A-Class character Haniel may be awarded at 30 million pre-registrations61616262Community Reception63636464The no 50/50 system has been widely praised as the most player-friendly gacha system in the genre. GamesRadar described it as taking "a sledgehammer to Genshin Impact standards." Players frustrated with other gacha games see NTE as a potential alternative, and the interactive board game format is considered more engaging than passive pull animations.65656666However, some concerns remain. Hotta Studio's previous game, Tower of Fantasy, had significant power creep issues, leading some players to worry about long-term balance. The actual free-to-play currency generation rate remains unknown since the game has not launched yet, and favorable rates mean little if monthly income is too low. Some players also note that linking limited-edition cosmetics to the same board means completionists may still spend significantly more than the character alone would require.67676868Pre-Launch Disclaimer69697070Neverness to Everness launches on April 29, 2026.
