Initial version
Neverness to Everness features a third-person action RPG combat system with extensive exploration, vehicle mechanics, and social activities set in an open-world environment.
Combat System
The Esper Cycle
The core combat mechanic in NTE is the Esper Cycle system. Players use skills and combos to attack enemies while infusing them with character-specific attributes. When two adjacent attributes combine, it triggers a synergy that unlocks powerful new combat options called Esper Reactions.
This system encourages strategic character swapping mid-battle to chain devastating combos. Players build a four-character team and can freely switch between them during combat, chaining normal attacks, skills, and ultimate abilities.
The combat style is reminiscent of other action RPGs where players engage enemies in enclosed areas until all foes are defeated. Each character brings unique Esper abilities to the battlefield, from gravity manipulation to time control and elemental powers.
Exploration and Movement
The open world of Hethereau offers multiple ways to traverse the city. Each character's Esper ability introduces unique movement options - for example, Nanally's Anti-Gravity ability lets players soar over buildings and unlock new routes through the city.
Environmental destruction plays a significant role, with some characters able to destroy obstacles and structures to create new paths or combat advantages.
Vehicle System
A standout feature that sets NTE apart from similar games is its emphasis on vehicle gameplay. Players can drive through Hethereau's neon-soaked streets using various vehicles. The system includes vehicle customization at garages and the ability to purchase different cars.
This feature drew comparisons to GTA when revealed, as players can not only drive but also purchase properties including apartments throughout the city.
Property and Business
Players can purchase and own properties in Hethereau, including customizable apartments with furniture and amenities like swimming pools. Beyond housing, players can start and manage their own businesses within the game world.
Social Activities
The game offers various urban social activities for players to enjoy between missions. These include fishing, working at a coffee shop, racing, and other daily life activities that flesh out the living city experience.
Dungeons and Special Content
Neverness to Everness features large-scale Anomaly dungeons for challenging group content. Confirmed dungeons include the Bank and the Hospital, each offering unique encounters and rewards.
The game also includes prison gameplay mechanics featuring solitary confinement, outdoor yard time, and escape opportunities, adding variety to the gameplay experience.
