11Progression in Marvel's Wolverine runs on two currencies and one equipment budget. Technique Points buy and improve combat moves, upgrade points earned through exploration feed the same trees, and Adaptations are passive perks equipped against a limited allowance rather than stacked without cost. Levelling up on its own does not raise Logan's maximum health. Suits do: official material states that crafting suits works toward permanent Health upgrades, which makes the wardrobe part of the build rather than decoration, even though wearing any given outfit is cosmetic.2233Two ceilings show up in the game's own trophy requirements. Player Level caps at 36 and Adaptation Level caps at 10. Both figures first came from trophy text, and post-launch guides confirm them: the level climb trophy fires at 36, and 36 is the cap on a normal run. One guide reports that New Game Plus lifts the cap to 40 and that experience keeps accruing invisibly past 36 on a first run, paid out as levels when the second run starts; both details are single-source.4455Technique Points667788Technique Points are earned as you play and spent across the game's progression trees, mainly on Special Techniques, the unlockable combat moves assigned to shortcut slots. Techniques can be upgraded as well as unlocked, and Insomniac's own settings list refers to suit and technique purchases as menu actions, so both are bought through a storefront-style interface rather than found in the world.991010The move set itself has two tiers. Techniques are learned combat moves that permanently widen what Logan can do. Special Techniques are the rechargeable ones assigned to shortcut slots, and four of those can be equipped at a time.11111212Some Special Techniques unlock through story progress and others when Logan reaches a set level, according to the studio's own gameplay guide. One post-launch guide counts 36 Technique nodes on a first run, all of them affordable by the level cap, with every node available to buy by Level 29; that count is single-source.13131414Some points can be granted before you start. Any pre-order includes one Technique Point, and the Digital Deluxe Edition adds three more. The official FAQ states both figures, which makes four the total for a Deluxe pre-order. See Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.15151616Adaptations and the strand allowance17171818Adaptations are passive perks that upgrade long-term effects and skills, including Logan's health and his Rage meter. They are mixed and matched to suit how you fight, and some can be used to make the game harder rather than easier.19192020Insomniac frames them as amplifying Logan's momentum on the battlefield and says there are dozens of them. The examples given officially are absorbing more bullets, increasing the effectiveness of Rage, expanding the parry window, and terrorising enemies mid-fight. A handful have been named:21212222AdaptationEffectEnraged RechargeSpeeds up Special Technique recharge while Logan is at Rage Tier 2 or Tier 3.Parry RechargeA successful parry recharges the Techniques mapped to L2 and X.Enraging SprintTurns ranged attacks taken during a sprint into Rage.Healing DangerouslyRestores health on a successful reaction.Expanded CritExtends critical strikes to enemies still holding more health.2323Those names came from coverage of the upgrade menus. PlayStation's own gameplay guide has since named six Adaptations (Tough Skinned, Healing Dangerously, Barrage Recharge, Enraging Sprint, Crate Finder and Whisky Finder), and one post-launch guide lists all 25; the full table is on the Adaptations page, and the effect wording here may not match the in-game description exactly.24242525The catch is capacity. Adaptations are equipped against a limited strand allowance, sometimes described as mutation strands, so building a loadout means choosing between perks instead of taking all of them. Raising that ceiling is one of the rewards for finishing Nightmare Door trials quickly.26262727Adaptation Level is the second gate. It climbs to 10, and the studio's own guide states that a maximum of 10 Adaptations can be equipped during a first playthrough, with AP from whisky bottles and Nightmare Trials raising the level and unlocking the Strands to slot them into. A New Game Plus run adds more Strands and four additional Adaptations that are not available on a first run at all.28282929Nightmare Trials and medals30303131The challenges behind each Nightmare Door are scored rather than simply passed. Runs are graded with medal placings in four steps: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Adamantium. The score thresholds for each step have not been published, and finishing quickly is what raises the strand allowance, so the medals feed straight back into the Adaptation loadout. Earning an Adamantium placing on any single trial is tracked as a trophy in its own right, and post-launch guides describe the Adamantium requirements as lenient.32323333More on those trials is on Nightmare Doors.34343535Suits and crafting363637373838Suits are crafted rather than simply unlocked. Mike Daly has said plainly that the game lets you craft suits, and hidden crates scattered through the levels contain the raw materials that feed it. Official material describes the crates as holding raw upgrade materials; hands-on coverage is more specific and ties them directly to suit crafting.39394040The wardrobe reaches well beyond armour. Official material names inspirations including Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine and Patch, alongside civilian clothes such as a tank top or a leather jacket, and Insomniac's own original design, Battle Reborn. Cowls and hats can be toggled off on some of them. Claw designs unlock through suits and through challenges, and the types named so far are bone, notched, curved, reflective and angled. The full list is on Suits and Claws.41414242Post-launch guides count 27 base suits plus five Digital Deluxe suits, and 22 base claw designs plus five Deluxe sets, matching the 27 slots observed in pre-launch hands-on sessions. Every one of them is now named.43434444The health effect is now stated outright in official material: acquiring more suits grants health upgrades, or unlocks new claws. How many suits the full health upgrade takes rests on a single post-launch guide, which puts it at 20 crafted base suits with the Deluxe suits not counting, so the figure is reported rather than settled.45454646Collectibles47474848Four kinds of optional find are scattered through the levels: material crates, whisky bottles, XP Caches and Nightmare Doors. Each of them feeds progression, whether as crafting materials, upgrade points or player experience. The counts and what each one gives are on Collectibles.49495050The whisky bottles are the most unusual of the four because the collectible and the story are the same object. Mike Daly has described Enhanced Senses tracking smells that trigger lost memories, in the form of whiskey bottles Logan had an experience with and simply could not recall until he had that smell in hand again. The spelling appears both ways in official and press material.51515252Finding any of them relies on the same exploration tools; see Enhanced Senses.53535454Mission Replay55555656Mission Replay returns you to any completed mission to pick up collectibles you walked past, and its stage selector tracks what is left in each one. It is run from Logan's Nightmare Cabin, which holds the game's other post-story features as well.57575858Post-launch guides confirm Mission Replay is available at launch, reached by interacting with the bed in the cabin, with collectibles carrying over between replays. The studio's own guide states that every level-specific trophy and collectible can be earned through it. The mission list is on Missions.59596060Puzzles61616262The game contains puzzles, confirmed by a Skip Puzzle option in the settings that lets you bypass them outright. The one type post-launch guides describe in detail is the keypad door: a four-digit code read from clues in the room. Three guides agree on all four codes.63636464MissionCodeWhat it opens (reported)Mutant Detected (Trask facility, Hightown)0514Story-path door; the fingerprints on the keypad glow blue when viewed with Logan's sensesMutant Detected0291Optional door to a material crateMutant Detected5413Optional door to the Fist of Legend whisky bottle, reached through a ventBad Blood (Shiro's penthouse, Shinjuku)1924Story-path penthouse keypad; the clue is the four books left sticking out of the shelf6565Nightmare Challenges66666767Nightmare Challenges is the name pre-launch material gives to slashing high scores from the same hub. Post-launch guides describe the cabin's shelf of medal-rated Nightmare Trials and no separate scored mode, so the name may refer to the trials themselves; see [[Nightmare Doors]].68686969New Game Plus70707171New Game Plus is started from the same hub and is supported at launch. Mike Daly has confirmed that it carries all progression over, and official material adds that a second run has exclusive Techniques of its own and raises the level caps rather than leaving them where the first run ended. Optional modifiers can be mixed and matched on top, which Daly has described as able to accelerate combat to the point of feeling extreme in both directions. As of September 21, 2026 the individual modifiers have not been named on the product page, the studio's support pages or its official posts. The studio's own guide says a second run has an increased level cap, more Strands and four additional Adaptations; one post-launch guide puts the raised cap at 40.
