Overview

During the Fatal Encounter main quest, after the Iris Hamlet is decimated, you come across Kapan trapped in the rubble of a collapsing building. The game presents you with the choice to help him or to leave him. This is one of the major story Choices in LumenTale, and it feeds into which ending you are working toward. It does not change the immediate progression of the quest itself.

Help Kapan Choice Outcomes

Helping Kapan is the good option. He is saved from the collapsing building and lives to endorse the start of your adventure once the prologue ends.

How the Choice Affects the Story

After the town is decimated, Kapan, Max, Blanco, and Julia encourage you to begin your adventure for various reasons. If Kapan dies, the latter three still push you to begin, just without Kapan present.

Should You Help Kapan or Not?

You should help Kapan to make progress toward the good ending. If you instead want the bad ending, you can have Trey be directly responsible for Kapan's death by choosing not to save him.
