Hidden Types Explained

Most Animon in LumenTale: Memories of Trey have a secondary typing called a Hidden Type. A Hidden Type is a potential second element an Animon can carry on top of its main element. It is discovered through scanning during battle. For example, Flowende is a Grass Animon with a Hidden Type of Chakra, so most Flowende you meet are pure Grass while some are Grass and Chakra at once.

When an Animon is newly caught, its Hidden Type is not known yet. You can reveal it either by scanning the creature or by leveling it up until it starts learning moves of a different element. Because the Hidden Type changes both the move pool and the battle matchups, it is an important part of how a creature performs. How to Check a Hidden Type

Hidden Types are discovered by scanning an Animon in battle. The first one or two scans usually reveal only weaknesses, so it takes up to three scans to pull all of a creature's information, including the Hidden Type. Scanning costs a turn, so plan ahead before spending one. You can improve how much each scan reveals through How to Increase Research Level.

It is worth checking a wild Animon's details before you capture it. Not every wild Animon has a Hidden Type. Once a creature is fully scanned and its Hidden Type is recorded in the in-game Animon list, that Hidden Type will also show in its battle details going forward, if it has one.

Prismatype Can Bring Out a Hidden Type

The Prismatype item is mainly used to grant an Animon its Hidden Type on demand. This matters because some Animon can only evolve once their Hidden Type has been revealed. A Prismatype can be crafted at any rest spot, and you do not need the crafting recipe to make it.
