11Elemental Types2233Every Animon in LumenTale: Memories of Trey belongs to one of 13 elemental types. Types decide how creatures match up in battle, with each one strong against some and weak against others. A balanced team usually covers several types so you are not stopped by a single resistant opponent.4455The 13 Types6677TypeDomainFire TypeExplosions and burning.Water TypeFluids and all things aquatic.Geo TypeRocks and minerals.Grass TypeNature and life.Electric TypeElectrical energy.Ice TypeThe cold and all things frozen.Aura TypeLight, wind, and benevolent forces.Chakra TypeInternal energies.Demon TypeDark and fiendish concepts.Data TypeA type brought forth by humans.Virus TypePlagues and noxious powers.Ancient TypeEnergy in its purest form.Anomalous TypeParanormal and psychic phenomena.88How Types Work in Battle991010In a turn-based fight, the damage a move deals depends partly on how the attacker's type lines up against the defender's type. Hitting an opponent with a type it is weak to does more, while a poor matchup does less. Switching your active Animon to answer the opponent's type is a key tactic. See the Combat System page.111112121313Per-Species Weaknesses14141515Type effectiveness here is per-species, not a single global chart. Each Animon has its own strengths and weaknesses across the 13 types, so two creatures of the same primary type can have different matchup profiles. Learning the weaknesses of the species you face often matters more than memorizing a single chart.161617171818To learn a creature's matchups, scan it in battle. The first scan reveals its weakness chart partially, the second reveals the full weakness chart, and a third scan completes its Animon index entry with its moveset, quirks, and evolution line. Scanning takes up a turn, so plan around it. See How to Increase Research Level and Type Effectiveness Explained.19192020Hidden Types21212222Most Animon carry a secondary typing called a Hidden Type, a potential second type that changes the creature's overall effectiveness. This is the main reason two Animon of the same primary type can have different weakness charts. For example, a Flowende is a Grass Type Animon with a Hidden Type of Chakra Type: most Flowende you encounter are pure Grass, but some are Grass and Chakra.23232424A newly caught Animon's Hidden Type is not known right away. You can reveal it in a few ways:25252626MethodHow It WorksScanningScan the Animon in battle; the first one or two scans usually show only weaknesses, so scan up to three times to surface the Hidden Type.LevelingLevel the Animon up until it learns different-type moves.PrismatypeUse a Prismatype item to grant the Animon its Hidden Type directly.2727Hidden Types matter for evolution: some Animon can only evolve once their Hidden Type is revealed, which is what makes the Prismatype valuable. Before capturing, check an Animon's details, since some wild Animon do not have a Hidden Type at all. Once an Animon is fully scanned and its Hidden Type is listed in its Animon index entry, that Hidden Type also shows in its battle details. See How to Get Prismatype.28282929Types and Attributes Together30303131Type is only one half of an Animon's combat identity. The other is its emotional attribute, one of five tied to feelings. Together, type and attribute give each creature a distinct profile.
