The Talent System (天赋, Tianfu) in Honor of Kings: World is the primary mechanism for customizing Resonances. Each Resonance has its own Talents that can enhance existing attributes, modify the behavior of abilities, or add entirely new attacks. The system lets two players using the same Resonance play it in meaningfully different ways through their Talent choices.
Per Baidu Baike primary text, Talents in Honor of Kings: World fall into a few functional categories:
Stat enhancements - Some Talents improve the base stats of a Resonance's moves, such as damage, range, or attack speed
New abilities - Other Talents grant entirely new moves or combo options that were not available in the base kit
Effect modifiers - A third category changes how existing abilities behave, such as altering release animations, adding status effects, or chaining into follow-up attacks
The example Baidu Baike cites is: "天赋激活后,'元流之子'在一套招式结束后还可以追加新技能" ("When a Talent is activated, the Child of the Primal Flow can append a new skill after a combo string"). This shows that Talents can literally add new abilities to a Resonance's moveset, not just tweak numbers.
Talents are earned through Resonance progression: using the Resonance in combat, completing its personal questlines, and advancing through main story and side content. Honor of Kings: World has no gacha for Talents or any other progression-affecting system. Everything balance-affecting is free-to-earn through gameplay.
Because each Resonance has its own Talent options, and because players equip two Resonances at once via the Dual-Class System, the combined Talent choices across two Resonances create a large build space. Players can specialize one Resonance as a pure damage tool and use the other as utility, or build both around sustained damage, or pursue any of several other hybrid directions. Because Talents affect how moves feel to execute, the customization is mechanical as well as numerical.
Several claims about the Honor of Kings: World Talent System have circulated in third-party coverage without confirmation from primary Chinese sources. Treat the following as unverified:
Specific talent tree names like "Assault," "Sustain," "Utility," "Vanguard" - these are not in any Baidu Baike or Tencent material
Specific per-talent names like "Berserker," "Holy Shield," "Blood Thirst" - these appear to be third-party fabrications
Mutually exclusive talent branches with fixed pair restrictions - the general structure is not documented
A specific currency called "Talent Shards" or similar
The verified Talent System is the 天赋 mechanic described above: per-Resonance move modifiers and new-skill unlocks earned through gameplay. Specific internal names and categories will be documented as TiMi publishes official game guides in English.
