Sun Shangxiang
October 13, 2026 at 12:28 PM
Added her official ability list and compendium biography, and removed stale launch-week wording about pending kit data
S1 "World Beginning" went live on May 29, 2026. The following details are now confirmed in the live build:
Role: official live coverage lists Sun Shangxiang as an attack marksman (攻击射手), a ranged damage Resonance built around sustained output and self-preservation while kiting in open-world combat.
Flow: she channels Scorching Flow (灼流), the same elemental Flow flagged in S1 marketing.
Availability: she headlined the S1-opening Heavenly Reward banner at the May 29 season start, alongside Longya.
Sun Shangxiang (孙尚香) is a Resonance (共鸣) added in the S1 World Beginning Season of Honor of Kings: World, who went live on May 29, 2026 as one of two first-half S1 Resonances alongside Longya. This article documents the live S1 information confirmed by official Tencent sources, including the ability list in the official Resonance database. Numeric skill values and Talent details are not published there.
Sun Shangxiang carries forward the IP's portrayal of the historical Wu princess Sun Ren as a martial warrior, recontextualized for the dual-Flow combat of Honor of Kings: World. She is the third historically grounded female Resonance to join the S0+S1 roster after Wang Zhaojun and Mulan.
The following details are confirmed for the live S1 build:
Arrival window: first half of S1 (launched May 29, 2026)
Acquisition: rotated onto the Heavenly Reward cosmetic/character banner at S1 start
Flow type: Scorching Flow (灼流)
Confirmed loadouts at launch: a Strong Attack damage build and a Support build, giving her flexible role placement across cooperative content
Available with the new genderswap (性转) feature that shipped at S1 start
Her skill names are listed in the official Resonance database (see Official Ability List below). Base stats, cooldown numbers and Talent tree details are not published there.
Scorching Flow (灼流) is the elemental Flow that Sun Shangxiang channels. Pre-show breakdowns describe two distinct ways to equip her:
Build | Role | Pre-Show Notes |
|---|---|---|
Scorching Flow Strong Attack | Offensive damage | Front-loaded burst built around her main weapon. Suited to boss-fight damage windows and break phases. |
Scorching Flow Support | Support utility | Buff and pressure-relief setup that pairs with a Strong Attack partner. Complements close-range or melee allies. |
The dual-build identity mirrors the design TiMi Studio Group has used for the launch protagonist Child of the Primal Flow: one base character, multiple Flow loadouts that can be re-spec'd between encounters.
Sun Shangxiang is the headline Resonance on the S1-opening Heavenly Reward Banner, which uses the standard cosmetic-banner pull mechanics rather than character gacha. Price anchors and pity numbers for the banner are covered in the Monetization article.
New region she may appear in: Caiyun Basin
Story chapter introducing her: Chapter 9: Guixu Dream Performance
Co-launch Resonance: Longya
Master Resonance roster: Heroes
S1 hub: S1 World Beginning Season
Official patch notes after the season launch reference several named pieces of Sun Shangxiang's live kit, which confirm the mechanical framework even though full numbers are still being documented. Her Resonance is built around a Crimson Lotus state (红莲绽), with a Lotus Fire Burst attack (莲火爆弹) that applies burning damage, and a Co-Flow skill named Barrage (共流技 炮火纷飞). Like every Resonance she also has a "concentrated arms" on-swap buff (凝武) that applies when she is tagged in from the standby slot. These are her open-world action-RPG mechanics: none of them correspond to the separate Honor of Kings MOBA marksman of the same name. Exact damage values, cooldowns, and the full Talent tree continue to be filled in by Chinese guide sites.
The official Resonance database lists five ability entries for Sun Shangxiang. Names are given in Chinese as published; the effects are summarised from the database text.
Ability | Effect in the official Resonance database |
|---|---|
普通攻击 (basic attack) | Fires shots that deal damage. The charged basic attack keeps firing at the target. Perfect-dodge counter: after a perfect dodge, the next basic attack is enhanced, grants 突袭值 and restores stamina |
活力突袭 | Leaps up to strike the enemy. After it is cast, enhanced shots that hit restore stamina |
红莲爆弹 | Throws a bomb that deals damage and puts enemies into the 红莲 state. If it misses, or an enemy in the 红莲 state dies, most of the cooldown is refunded. Against the 红莲 state it becomes 领域爆弹, which deals damage plus continuing area damage; a 千金重弹 exploding inside the area sets off a field shockwave |
究极弩炮 | Fires a ballista bolt for heavy damage. In the 红莲 state, with the pressure gauge full or the 千金重弹 rounds used up, 千金一怒 can be cast. The enhanced form 破穹红莲 fires the ballista together with homing shells, and the pressure value triggers extra homing shells |
千金破阵弩 | Bombards enemies in an area for heavy damage and fully refills the 活力 (vigor) gauge |
Her compendium biography describes her as a princess of Wu with exceptional martial talent who can learn a new technique after seeing it two or three times, quick and agile in movement, sharp of mind, and able to spot openings in a fight that others miss.
The July 9, 2026 S1 second-half patch nerfed Sun Shangxiang, reducing the high armor-penetration output that had kept her a top-tier damage pick. Exact numeric values were not published.
Her role, Flow and official ability list are confirmed for the live build. Base stats, cooldowns and the full Talent tree are not in the official database and are left out here to avoid fabrication. Note: the original Honor of Kings MOBA also has a Sun Shangxiang marksman, but that is an entirely different character build with a separate ability set and item list; none of that MOBA kit applies to this open-world Resonance.
