Exploring the open world of gen ATLAS uses several forms of movement, from personal gear to large vehicles to the colossal machine itself. The director has described it as an open world and the largest game he has built, with a deliberate sense of scale that the player is meant to feel throughout.
On Foot
The protagonist is equipped with a jetpack that allows vertical climbing and the scaling of large structures, helping navigate the world's enormous scale.
Vehicles
Land vehicles also feature in traversal. Footage shows the player aboard a vehicle, firing on fast-moving creatures in pursuit.
Riding the Machine

The player can ride atop the body of the colossal robot as it moves, and the machine's power opens routes to areas that would otherwise be unreachable. Together these options support an open world built around exploration and discovery.
Movement is not limited to the ground. Once the robot head is joined to a body, the machine can take to the sky, and footage has shown it soaring above the surface and rising through rocket-launch sequences that carry the player far beyond what they could reach on foot.
