gen ATLAS is set on a vast, abandoned world. The player awakens there without knowing why, facing a silent landscape that stretches to the horizon.
A Silent World

Colossal structures rise over endless plains, alongside deserted facilities and an ever-changing sea. The surface is littered with the remnants of some grand design, the ruins of a civilization long gone. Official descriptions frame the world with a tone of mystery, scale, and quiet melancholy.
Much of the footage shown so far is set across desert-like sand, but the world is not limited to it. The director has confirmed that other environmental biomes feature in the game beyond the open desert.
The Constructs Awaken

Across an endless expanse of time, the forgotten constructs that litter the world begin to move once more. Among them is a colossal robot that becomes central to the journey. Following the trail of ruins leads the player to harness the power of these machines, forging new paths and reshaping the world along the way. The world is explored from a third-person perspective, rewarding curiosity and discovery.
Signs of Life
The world is not entirely lifeless. Ueda has said it holds living creatures that evolved over a long stretch of time, and that the player comes to understand them through exploration rather than through up-front explanation.
