Added later Esper recruitment requirements and the prologue distinction
11Espers are the summons of Final Fantasy Resonance. The series staple returns as a high-cost battle option: a summoned esper joins the fight in person, acts over three turns, and exits on a finisher.223344How Summoning Works5566Espers are unlocked by progressing the story and by completing side quests. Square Enix's own summary of the system is that over the course of the story you enlist the help of espers, entities that join the battle for three turns before unleashing an immensely destructive attack. In practice that means an esper fights alongside the party for those three turns, delivers its finishing move on the last one, and then disappears. Summoning costs a large amount of MP, which positions espers as tide-turners against strong opponents rather than tools for routine fights. They act within the same turn-based flow as the rest of the party; see Combat for the battle structure.7788Named Espers991010Nine espers have been named as summons in official materials so far, and no tenth has been added by anything published through October 11, 2026. Two of them were detailed at announcement.11111212EsperProfileSpecial MoveSirenAn esper with large wings and a love of the wind. It attacks with the water and wind elements.Lunatic Voice: wind damage to all enemies, with a chance of inflicting Sleep or Silence.RamuhAn esper in the form of an elderly figure with a long beard. Its lightning techniques carry a chance to paralyze the target.Judgement Bolt: lightning damage to all enemies.1313Square Enix named three more espers on July 16, 2026, restating the same three-turn structure at the same time.14141515EsperProfileFinisherIfritA horned figure whose horns Square Enix calls intimidating.Hellfire: immolates all who oppose him with fire damage.ShivaA long-haired nymph.Diamond Dust: decimates all foes with ice.TitanA colossus sealed away long ago.Gaia's Wrath: massive earth damage to all opponents.1616All three hit every enemy at once, which lines up with how espers are positioned: a large MP outlay bought back by a board-wide finisher. Softening a full enemy line also feeds the stagger system, and staggering every enemy in one turn is the condition for a Resonance attack.17171818Espers Named on August 24, 202619192020Four more espers arrived on August 24, 2026, each with its finishing move. Two of them break the pattern the earlier five set: Carbuncle's finisher is protective rather than damaging, and Odin's carries an instant-death chance instead of an element.21212222EsperProfileFinisherCarbuncleA small creature bearing an impressive ruby on its forehead.Ruby Light: reflects magic cast on your party.LeviathanA gargantuan sea serpent.Tsunami: massive Water damage to all enemies.OdinAn armor-clad entity that bestrides a many-legged steed.Zantetsuken: non-elemental damage that may cause Instant Death.BahamutA dragon so great, he is said to rule over them all.Megaflare: massive non-elemental damage to all enemies.2323That brings the summonable roster to nine: Siren, Ramuh, Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Odin and Bahamut.24242525One esper has been named without being made summonable: Olderion is protected by an esper the locals call the God of Water. It is described as a guardian of the city rather than a party option.26262727The three-turn structure is no longer something taken from preview footage. Square Enix's own English description of the battle system, published on September 3, 2026 alongside the free demo, states that espers fight alongside the party for three turns and deliver a finishing move on the final turn before disappearing, which is exactly the shape set out above. The demo covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1, so the summon flow can now be seen in a shipped build.28282929Bahamut30303131Bahamut appears in the story: the unnamed woman among the announced characters travels alongside it, and in preview builds the prologue, set during a war in the past, featured Bahamut being summoned in a tutorial boss fight. Whether the player could call it was an open question for months, and the August 24, 2026 release settled it. Bahamut is one of the espers you enlist, and its Megaflare deals massive non-elemental damage to every enemy at once. The story presence and the summon are the same dragon, so the tutorial fight now reads as an early look at a summon that returns to the player's side later.32323333Espers as Opponents34343535Espers are not only allies. Official material has published a tactical line for facing Shiva: block her powerful ice attacks, and use fire attacks to deal big damage and shave her Stagger Gauge. The fight is described as anything but straightforward, and as one that rewards preparation beforehand. It is the first time an official source has spelled out an elemental counter for a named opponent in this game, and it matches how weaknesses feed the stagger loop generally. Her finisher on the player's side is the same Diamond Dust that instantly freezes all enemies and deals heavy damage.36363737Espers in the World38383939Fina, the heroine who appears from the Earth Crystal, can communicate with espers, though she cannot remember why or where she learned to. Official feature descriptions also count moogles among the series elements woven into the story, alongside airships and crystals.40404141Early unlock routes42424343EsperUnlockSirenDefeat her at Siren Tower in Chapter 1.RamuhDefeat him on the back-entrance route through Mt. Their individual pages explain the unlock route or battle preparation; the table is an early selection, not the full esper roster.45+46+Recruitment through the later chapters47+48+EsperAvailable fromUnlockTitanChapter 4Complete Colosseum Fledgling Battle 5 for the Gaia Hammer.
