Lucian Harborwell was the second son of House Harborwell and the kinder of the player's two elder brothers. Where Leopold was the heir-apparent and the unmistakable sun of the family, Lucian was the brother who stayed close, the one who laughed and grumbled and walked side by side with the youngest sibling. On the day the elven raid plunged Goldenhaven into chaos, Lucian did not flee. Driven by his sense of duty as a member of a noble house, he stood against the invaders until the very end.

In the Shadow of Leopold

Growing up in the shadow of his perfect older brother, Lucian harbored deep inferiority. Leopold's masterful bloodline magic, his fearless composure even after the accident that took his legs, and the absolute love Goldenhaven gave him were difficult marks for a younger sibling to match. Lucian's heart was often stained with self-resentment and a sense of falling short.

Even so, he was kinder to the youngest sibling than anyone else. If Leopold was the sun that shone on everyone equally, Lucian was the brother who walked with the youngest in private: laughing, grumbling, sharing the small parts of family life that the heir's duties left no room for.

Pride of the House

Beneath the inferiority lay a fierce pride in the Harborwell name. Lucian carried himself as a member of a noble house, even when measuring himself against a brother he could never quite reach. When the elven raid descended on Goldenhaven during the succession ceremony, that pride decided his choice for him.

He did not flee. He turned and fought, taking up arms against the invaders to defend the city and the family. He fell during that defense, slain in the chaos that consumed the fortress.

Appearance

Lucian is characterized by pale skin and dark brown, tightly curled hair. He has refined, aristocratic features and a slightly melancholic expression, still carrying an air of pride. For the succession ceremony he is dressed in formal ceremonial attire that maintains visual unity with House Harborwell's traditional colors.

Legacy

Lucian's death is one of the personal losses that drives the player's campaign. Where Valdemar's fall is the kingdom's tragedy and Leopold's death is the heir's tragedy, Lucian's is the family's: a brother who could have walked the rebuilding path alongside the player and instead chose to die defending the family seat. Rebuilding House Harborwell is, in part, finishing what he refused to abandon.
