Eline does not travel alone in Edge of Memories. Two named allies, Ysoris and Kanta, accompany her through exploration and combat, and she can ride a Nekaroo, a feline creature the store page calls a "loyal feline companion". The developers have said the companions are not playable; Eline is the only character the player controls.
Overview
Companion | Description in official material | Role in play |
|---|---|---|
Ysoris | "Her unlikely mentor" | Fights alongside Eline; skills can be used in combat |
Kanta | "Shaman prince of a lost tribe" | Fights alongside Eline; skills can be used in combat |
Nekaroo | "Loyal feline companion" | Mount used to reach areas Eline cannot reach on foot |
Ysoris
Ysoris is described as Eline's "unlikely mentor". The June 2026 demo covers the first chapter, in which Eline meets him. He is a returning character from Edge of Eternity, and the Legacy Costume Pack gives him and the Nekaroo outfits based on their looks in that game. The studio said in June 2026 that some returning characters were redesigned for this game.
His other costumes come with the Digital Deluxe Edition: a feline outfit in the Nekaroo Costume Pack and LaFayette in the French History Costume Pack.
Kanta
Kanta is the "shaman prince of a lost tribe". Beyond that description, official material had said little about him as of October 2026. His Deluxe costumes are a feline outfit in the Nekaroo Costume Pack and Le Révolutionnaire in the French History Costume Pack.
Companions in Combat
The store page tells players to "Customise your companions, and use their skills wisely to inflict more damage at crucial moments." The demo taught players to trigger powerful attacks from their allies while building combos and dodging enemy abilities. As of October 2026, the specific skills each companion has and how customisation works had not been detailed. The fighting system is covered on the Combat page.
The Nekaroo
The Nekaroo is a feline mount whose agility lets Eline reach otherwise unreachable areas. The August 2026 Nekaroo gameplay video explained that interacting with pillars scattered through the environment unlocks Nekaroo exploration and reveals new paths and areas. A developer post on the music also mentions riding a Nekaroo through the Kalden-Uzaris desert. See Exploration for how the mount fits into level design.
The Nekaroo appears in all three costume packs: the Legacy Costume Pack, the Nekaroo Costume Pack and the French History Costume Pack, where it wears Le Noble Destrier. Pack contents are listed on the Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses page.
Not Yet Confirmed
As of October 2026, official material had not said whether more companions join beyond Ysoris and Kanta, and no standalone details on their backstories had been published. Voice cast names for the companions had also not been announced.
