IGNISPHERE (Japanese イグニスフィア) is the original fantasy world in which DAWNGAZER takes place. The name covers three things at once: the world itself, the brand that Monochrome and Good Smile Company launched on September 25, 2026, and the game studio, IGNISPHERE Studio. Director Takafumi Noma is its original creator.
Noma described it as a world built to hold many stories rather than one game. In the English interview he said: "I want it to be a world that can accommodate all kinds of stories and forms of gameplay." DAWNGAZER is the first game set there.
The name joins the Latin word ignis, meaning fire, with sphere, meaning a world or realm. Noma's idea is that a different fire burns in each nation, race and region, and that different stories grow from each one.
He chose fire over the other classic elements because he sees it as the first power people ever gained. It stands for conflict and destruction, but it also gives light and warmth and helps build civilizations. For this project, Noma said, he wanted to place fire at the center of the world as its main power and tell a drama about it.
The world has twelve nations, each home to different races. Noma said the team narrowed a larger set of ideas down to about twelve. As of October 2026 only one nation has been named, but he described several others:
Nation or group | What has been said |
|---|---|
Central nation (パイロス) | Holds a flame-like power and shares it with every other nation; the setting of the royal tragedy in DAWNGAZER's premise (see Story Premise) |
Nation of sea creatures | Home to a jellyfish-like girl and a character with a fish head; Noma mentioned a shrimp martial artist in the same breath |
Nation of harpies | Harpies in many colors; a brown-skinned harpy appears in the teaser |
Goblin and elf nation | One nation contains two powers, one closer to goblins and one closer to elves |
Fairy nation | Added as a classic fantasy element |
Antarctic-like nation | An unusual nation with penguins |
Insect-centred nation | Mentioned by the interviewer; Noma talked about insect characters who are born in great numbers |
Some nations are in conflict with each other. As an illustration, Noma said a demon-like place and an angel-like place would obviously get along badly, but he added that specific names and relationships could not be shared yet. As of October 2026 there is no official world map; he said one will be needed but expected it to take a lot of revision.
The world also has monsters, which Noma added so that the action game could feature giant bosses. He wants them to be creatures players have rarely seen.
IGNISPHERE is planned as a multimedia brand. Good Smile Company handles figures and other merchandise, and several light novel projects set in the world, including a novelization, are underway at KADOKAWA's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint with Noma designing their characters. Those works are separate from the game, and nothing from them is confirmed as DAWNGAZER content.
