Added spinning totem landmarks, enemy respawn warning, lone tree field description, canyon resource management advice
Seed of Unease is the 39th main quest in Crimson Desert. If the Devil of the Reed Field escapes, the Greymanes will remain in danger. Kliff pursues the creature from the Reedfield Graves southwest through a long canyon toward the Steel Mountains. The Reed Devil appears and disappears multiple times along the route, and the path is lined with hostile enemies. The quest ends at an altar where Kliff finds a mysterious straw doll.

After the cutscene at the hut, activate your lantern (L1/LB) to pick up the yellow tracking line again. Head southwest from the hut toward a canyon entrance. There is no quest marker after the initial cutscene; the lantern is your only guide.
Travel along the canyon road. The Reed Devil will materialize alongside groups of enemies at several points. When it appears, attack it until it takes enough damage and vanishes. You do not need to kill it here; just land enough hits to force it to retreat each time.
You can run past most of the regular enemies and focus your attacks on the Reed Devil when it shows up.
The Reed Devil hits hard even during these brief canyon appearances. Heal with food items between encounters.
Stay vigilant and try to reach wider areas whenever possible so you do not get surrounded in the narrow canyon paths.
When you first reach the Steel Mountains area, check for a grave along the path. A Palmar Pill sits on or near it. This is an optional healing consumable that is easy to miss.
Follow the canyon south until you emerge into a large open field at the base of the Mountain of Frozen Souls. In the center of this field is a stone altar. Approach it and examine the straw figure (the Devil of the Reed Field's Doll) using L1/LB. A cutscene plays, and the quest completes.
This quest flows directly into Dance with the Devil, so make sure you are fully stocked on healing items before examining the altar.
The canyon section is long and resource-draining. Bring at least 50 healing items if your gear is mid-level.
If you lose the yellow lantern trail at any point, toggle the lantern off and back on.
The straw doll on the altar is connected to the Reed Devil's supernatural origins, which are explored further in the boss fight.
The canyon route from Reedfield Graves toward the Mountain of Frozen Souls passes through the Steel Mountains area. Watch for spinning straw totems placed along the path. These totems mark the correct route and serve as visual confirmation that you are headed in the right direction. If you stop seeing totems, you may have taken a wrong turn; double-check the lantern trail.
The enemies in the canyon continuously respawn. Unlike most combat encounters in the game, clearing a group here does not permanently remove them. Stopping to fight every wave will drain your healing supplies and waste time with no meaningful reward. The recommended approach is to follow the lantern beam and sprint through, only engaging enemies when they directly block your path or when the Reed Devil materializes for one of its brief ambush appearances.
When the Reed Devil appears alongside regular enemies, focus your attacks on it. Landing enough hits forces it to vanish and advance further along the canyon. The regular soldiers will keep respawning regardless of how many you defeat, so there is no benefit to clearing them.
After navigating the narrow canyon passages, the terrain opens into a wide grassy field at the base of the Mountain of Frozen Souls. A single large tree stands near the center of this field, and the stone altar with the Devil of the Reed Field's Doll sits beside it. The straw doll is a quest item connected to the Reed Devil's supernatural origins, tying into the broader lore of the Abyss and its corrupting influence on the people of Pywel.
Examining the doll (L1/LB) triggers a cutscene and completes the quest. The next quest, Dance with the Devil, begins immediately with no transition back to camp. Make absolutely sure your healing items are stocked before interacting with the altar. The boss fight ahead is one of the toughest in Chapter 3, and there is no opportunity to resupply between these two quests.
Healing items: Bring at least 50 Grilled Meat (80 HP each) or equivalent food. The canyon encounters and the upcoming boss fight will drain your supplies quickly.
Palmar Pill: Check the graves in the Steel Mountains area for a Palmar Pill, a strong consumable that is easy to overlook while sprinting through.
Armor: If your armor is below plate quality, consider returning to Hernand to purchase and upgrade before starting this quest. The boss in Dance with the Devil can one-shot you with insufficient defense.
