New article: Primus the Ancient boss guide with stone attack counter-strategy
Primus the Ancient is one of three corrupted Ancient bosses in the Shackled God faction quest line in Crimson Desert. Primus is generally considered a mid-tier difficulty encounter, sitting between the relatively straightforward Priscus fight and the punishing Praevus encounter. The boss is located at Arrowhead Rock (also called the Daggerhead Monolith) in the Dewhaven Territory, just north of the Serpent Shrine.
Primus is the closest of the three Ancients to the Serpent Shrine. The boss arena is at Arrowhead Rock in the Dewhaven Territory, just north of the shrine. There is no puzzle involved in reaching this boss. Mark the quest objective on your map from the Faction Quests journal and travel directly to the location.

Primus is a flying boss that relies on stone-based projectile attacks. Unlike Praevus' fire-based attacks, Primus' stone projectiles do not cause damage over time. However, if even one stone projectile connects, it stun-locks the player and triggers a burst damage combo that can deal massive damage.
Stone Projectiles: Primus launches stone-based projectile attacks from the air. If a single projectile hits you, it stuns you in place, and the subsequent projectiles in the barrage deal stacked burst damage.
Burst Damage Combo: Unlike Praevus' meteor explosions, the stone attacks rely on the stun-lock mechanic rather than area-of-effect damage. If you dodge the initial projectile and avoid being stunned, the remaining stones are far less dangerous.
Non-AoE Attacks: Primus' attacks do not have the wide area-of-effect coverage that Praevus' meteors have. This makes the arena pillars effective cover.
Flight Patterns: Like the other Ancients, Primus spends considerable time in the air. Focused Shot is particularly useful for keeping consistent damage pressure while he flies.
The critical difference between Primus and Praevus is that Primus' attacks can be survived by dodging the initial hit. With Praevus, even dodging the meteor still leaves you in the explosion radius. With Primus, a clean dodge of the first stone projectile prevents the stun-lock chain entirely, letting you escape unscathed.
Use Focused Shot: This is one of the best skills for this fight. Focused Shot fires hard-hitting, rapid arrows that build the stagger meter quickly. It requires Marksmanship Level 2 (blue skill tree) and Focus Level 2 (green skill tree).
Stay below the boss: When Primus hovers or circles above the arena, position yourself directly underneath. His stone projectiles have a harder time tracking targets directly below him.
Use arena pillars for cover: The boss arena has stone pillars that block Primus' projectile attacks. Since his attacks are not AoE, the pillars provide reliable protection, unlike in the Praevus fight where explosions can reach around obstacles.
Dodge the first stone: If you dodge the initial projectile in a barrage, the burst damage chain does not activate. Focus on timing your dodge roll to avoid the very first hit in each attack sequence.
Build the stagger meter: Consistent bow hits eventually fill the stagger gauge. Once Primus is staggered, he crashes to the ground and becomes vulnerable to sustained melee combos.
Defeating Primus progresses the Shackled God quest line. After all three Ancients are killed, the quest returns to the Serpent Shrine for the final encounter with Aeserion.
