Kliff Macduff is the protagonist of Crimson Desert and the leader of the mercenary group known as the Drunken Black Bears. A Scottish-accented warrior with a troubled past, Kliff serves as the player's primary character throughout the main storyline.

Orphaned at a young age after losing his family to violence, Kliff grew up on the harsh streets before eventually founding his own mercenary band. His leadership style balances pragmatic survival with genuine care for his companions.

Background

Kliff's early life was marked by tragedy and hardship. After witnessing the death of his family, he was forced to survive alone, developing the combat skills and street wisdom that would later define his mercenary career.

At some point before the events of the game, Kliff gathered together a group of misfits and outcasts, forming the Drunken Black Bears. The group operates as a family as much as a mercenary company, with Kliff serving as both commander and protector.

Combat Abilities

As a versatile warrior, Kliff can wield multiple weapon types including swords, greatswords, and hand-to-hand combat techniques. Players can customize his fighting style through the skill tree system, specializing in different weapon masteries.

Kliff's combat capabilities include powerful combo attacks, dodging and parrying mechanics, and special abilities that can be unlocked through progression. He can also utilize stealth approaches when infiltrating enemy strongholds.

The Hernandian Banquet

During one mission, Kliff infiltrates a noble gathering by donning the Hernandian Banquet Attire as a disguise. This elegant outfit allows him to blend in with the aristocracy while gathering intelligence, showcasing his adaptability beyond pure combat.

Relationships

Kliff maintains close bonds with his mercenary companions, particularly Martinus who serves as his trusted second-in-command. His relationship with his wolf companion Pywel demonstrates his capacity for loyalty and emotional connection.

Throughout the story, Kliff's interactions with various NPCs reveal his complex personality - a hardened warrior who still maintains his humanity despite the brutal world he inhabits.
